Bull terriers can have skin problems of all sorts (acral lick disease is one) but I recon that problem is caused from one of the two things mentioned or both, first started by the fence then aggrivated by the pup. Though whatever the cause, on a bull terrier it always appears bad. Love Duck Soup B&T but although It's a Wonderful Life does have that 'cheese factor' ending, for most part the film is quite dark, 'ol Jimmy Stewart certainly goes through the mill in that one, that and The Man Who Shot Liberty Vallance, another fav.

Just a question for any who have run dogs around there..... Anyone tried over or around 'the bank' (sea defence) at Banks? I've run fields from Tarlton through to Southport over the years but never tried nearer that stretch, ran Southports north marsh coastline (very dodgy, especially for the dog!) but stopped at the cattle fields, though they looked good, as they were a little exposed (to open to the coast road). I did hear that similar ground is around the bank but never been to look? Cheers

Had a 'similar' thing happen to me after getting dropped off to ferret aged about 13. When caught with ferrets in, the keeper asked me to hand him a rabbit that was lying on the ground and thinking he was going to take it and bollock me, I did. Fool that I was, he battered me with it and boy did that hurt! To add insult to injury as i'm laying on the ground, my best Jill came wandering out, job done, to suddenly go 'boom' and explode, as the young underkeeper gave it both barrels Oh, just for the record, I payed 'em both back over the years... and then some!!

My vote was for Tomo, seen a fair 'ol bit of his dog on here and he does enough with it. Gotta say Markbricks dogs always look sharp too. Though to be honest, its hard to say, how many of us know the capability of all contenders, none i'll bet.... but they'll all have that knowlege at the end. My heart would vote for Scouser (wonder why ) and then W.H., impresses me with every post, christ that lads keen! That would possibly be an Ormskirk (some call 'em Lancashire) Heeler. Black and tan and short on leg. Seen plenty of these fiery little tykes work rats around local farms over the years.

Very happy with Dovre Extremes, been in some horrible shit with them and they are very comfortable, stable and easy to clean. Best price I've seen is is at the link top right of the page at N.E.F. Meindl also seem to have a decent returns policy too if anything should go wrong. Worth looking at Lowas too, can't really comment too much on them, only just bought a correct sized pair for work but will be reporting back, would have bought more Meindls, but they don't seem to do a black boot similar to the Lowa, or at least one that is easily available. Is that the Burmas Rio?.........that look better than the Dovres for that. Think mine might be the Burmas Wilf.....? Can't remember which type they are now, i've had 'em so long (5 years +). As I said before, there are the 4 season boot, which can take crampons (not that anyone should need 'em!). If I was to fault 'em, they can be a bit heavy and rigid 'when one has to be on one's toes.....sharpish'!!! And a bit of a bugger to drive in. In comparison to the Dovres, they are much heavier in the uppers and rigid in the sole, seen a spade or two over them years and almost daily

Again L&L I see your point but what is a shame in the world of working dogs is 'serious showing' which is almost always to the detriment of working ability. Thousands of years in breeding the best to the best in working sighthounds has left us with some seriously wonderful, beautiful and phisically sound animals, using these in production of working lurchers should always throw sound stock. And again, we wouldn't have the sound working instinct (underground) in the working terrier if it wern't for hundreds of years of only solid graft behind them. Both these types were forged in the fiel

I voted yes and yes. A good looker is always a sight to behold but Form Should Follow Function, seen some ugly miss-shapen critters that really were the nuts and that's what would count in my book. As for showing, yes, if taken light-hearted and in the right spirit (just for fun) and most of all a great way to meet up with like minded people.

Would agree with that Wilf, far better to see something that you have raised go that way than be passed from pillar to post. Real time should be taken when choosing a potential partner. So many people 'take a shine' to a certain dog or type of dog without really asking themselves what they really want it for and if they have the time to develope it into the best it can be. I've been guilty of the same in the past It's an easy come, easy go, world we live in and that's a real shame for some of the dogs in it!
