I gave my old man a bad press. So here's a good memory of him In the early fifties,kids used to make up their own bikes. A chain here, a wheel there, a borrowed pedal. I had a fantastic, free childhood. I roamed the streets till all hours. I had lots of friends And I looked forward to everyday. Christmas, playing football and cricket from dawn to dusk. I repeat, kids are not fools. They can sift out bollocks and phonies no problem. They know right from wrong. One of my kids came home upset when he was 5 years old. I'm with you with regard to sending certain SEN kids to mainstream schools. In some cases it's a case of forcing a square peg into a round hole. And it was a money saving measure. Nor the school where I was a parent rep on the school board. It's hyped up hysterical nonsense. Modern teachers do a good job and try and deliver an inclusive curriculum. You get the odd nutjob but they are usually weeded out by the kids themselves. Kids are very sensible you can't pull the wool over their eyes. They often have more common sense than adults.

It's not up to us or 'society' to do anything except recognise these people are psychologically very ill. The teacher should just have jacked his job in. Not subjected the child to trial by media and idle opinion. Yes but you are assuming some whacko parent has given their kid permission go wear a dress or whatever. But the decision may gave been taken on the advice of a child psychiatrist in consultation with the headmaster. Maybe the child is threatening suicide or self harm, so allowing the body dysmorphia or whatever the problem is, is the best way forward. Best not to judge is my belief. Anyway I'm out mate.
