  1. Used to be a member on here called cleanspade who had a dog identical to that mate. The cross must throw pretty uniform.
  2. As Phil Lloyd says it can end up emotional. There's some horrible sounds-: a baby in pain,a hare crying its last, but a greyhound howling and shrieking in pain, biting you out of fear and confusion and with limbs sticking out at unnatural angles is one of the worst. Injuries are an inevitable side of the game we love, but we can guard against them by not running dogs which, statistically, will suffer more injuries (and more serious injuries to boot) because of their breed and constitution. I've been into greyhound racing for a long time. I've seen horrendous injuries over the years-- and t
  3. How does the driver know how high to adjust the plough? It's got to be low enough to take off the snow but not scrape the road.Roads vary in their flatness. How do you stop taking off lumps of tarmac?
  4. Nah, I'm not buying that blueboybilly. Look at the dog. Is it's head being pulled? Is it digging its front or back legs into the ground to try and fight the momentum of the van? Does the dog look in any distress? Does the guy in the van look as though he is physically pulling the dog? His arm would be extended if he was. Nothing in this story.
  5. kennel her with another bitch which is about to come into season.
  6. Has your pup shown any undesirable saluki type problems?
  7. Probably a lot of exaggerated media hype. They were probably just keeping up the dog's fitness. What's the difference between running a dog alongside a bike? Years ago when we wanted one of our greyhounds to lose in a race we would tire it out by running our minivan along the sands with the dog running after. A couple of miles and the dog was usually knackered and would lose the race. We would then get a better price from the bookie the next time it ran. I remember tiring the dog out one night and the bugger still won. even though we told all our mates it had no chance and not to back it. I
  8. Try placing the pup in a crate within the kennel so the older dog gets used to the pup but cannot physically harm it.
  9. There was a member on here who had a couple of Ovcharka/greyhound crosses. They were surprisingly racy. Has that member any up to date pics/info about how they turned out?
  10. Three out of three musk oxen? You're talking bull, unless it's helped by the whole pack. Any pics?
  11. And those field sport enthusiasts with a balanced, open mind. Do you defend the collection of rare bird eggs, rare taxidermy specimens and the predations of cats on our song bird species? http://www.wildlifeextra.com/go/news/cats-birds.html#cr
  12. Just to upset the apple barrel, (not like me i know). Ive mixed feelings about wildlife crime. These rare bird egg collectors are a menace as are those who kill rare and endangered species just for taxidermy purposes. Chris Pacham can be a c**t but I agreed with him when he pointed out the damage that domestic cats do to wild bird populations. Cats are an entirely foreign species which do not belong in the ecosystem. Pacham said owners should be made to control them. He's dead right about that.
  13. Genuinely taken before the ban ....great set of picsimage.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Superb.
  14. There's a six month pup on done deal.
  15. Do you keep your waterslaggers out of hearing of other canaries in case they copy the 'wrong song'?
  16. In parts of Aberdeenshire there are definitely more Roe than rabbits. In my area of Scotland there's more foxes than rabbits. The future is here.
  17. Building workers and the like, have bodies well fecked before retirement age. Those involved in hard physical graft should get their pension ten years earlier.I'm not in a hard physical job, but I have friends whose bodies are prematurely aged/damaged by relentless graft.
  18. I always lamp on my tod. More atmospheric out there with just yourself and a howling gale. Time to think, contemplate, nobody moaning they've got to get home or twining about the cold. I like the sense of freedom, I can pack up early or stay out till dawn. Best of all is to get the Mrs to drop me off and then I make my own way home. No car to betray your location. Not a soul knows where I am . Great! The only downside is getting flashbacks to horror films, Sometimes I have to remind myself there's no ghosts, monsters etc.
  19. It's too soon, he's just a baby. But, so is Martin. Both seem ridiculously easy to hit to me with little or no head movement.. Nobody can call this fight, each man could easily be sparked by the other. It's a sign of the times that two guys with so little experience, who have faced nobody of any substance, are fighting for a world title. Seventies heavyweights eat your hearts out.
