JJM; It Was f**king revolting, mate. I mean, these things weren't just like moving specks of dust shit. They were like Clock Work! Big as f**king money spiders. Very clearly visible. Urgh! That's how many starling chicks I ringed, today. Few more broods to go yet too. It's amazing the difference just a few days can make to their leg structures. Short roll of jelly like fat, on Friday. I never knock anyone about nest boxes, mate. They've been an obsession of mine all my life. " Bird Gardening ", they used to call it. I've got some right old books on the subject too. Ye really should get ye arse on that Group. Shit loads of information lodged there. Cutting plans and all. Oh, and this isn't looking like the earliest starting of seasons either. Mr Wilkes; F**k Yeah!!! North, through to East is the generally accepted preference, mate. Starlings particularly like east. House sparrows, in my experience, are buggers for the north. North facing wall, covered in ivy? Sparrow metropolis. Nest boxes get hot enough as it is. They're effectively little brooder sheds ~ and we all know what They're like!
