  1. Dont know if it is the same one as you are all talking about but i have seen one on you tube that is called molecat .Also uses a blank .
  2. As said Woodga is the guy for quality snares .
  3. One good thing about them is you dont loose the tealer because the ghost snare is a all in one system it incorporates the tealer in the making of it .One other point to make is that it uses less wire/cable to make a ghost snare plus there is no need for the swivel as this is also not needed with a ghost snare .I do know of some people who put a swivel on the ground anker cable but i have not lost any yet without a swivel .I use both types and i think the catch rate is the same but for ease and quickness of setting i would rate the ghost snare the better of the two .
  4. If using Maize you could put a small bit of board in the back of the cage and silicone the maize to the board so the birds dont nick it
  5. Yes its nearly time for setting them and then checking them every day for the next 5 months in the wind and rain cant wait best time of the year
  6. Yes Mr Tea pot should have the job
  7. Sounds like birds, rats ect are taking the bait
  8. I try to steer away from welded nuts on any anker as this could be a week spot .I make my own out of small pipe i get from bq costs about £3 per length .I cut the pipe into about 3 inch sections and drill a 4mm hole in center of the pipe .I then put 2mm cable through and attach a washer and end stop .The other end of the cable i just use a double ferrule and form a loop to attach the trap ,snare ect to .
  9. It Will be very difficult to trap the mink now due to the water level going up and down they do like to keep to the water edge so you may find the traps ok one day but the next they are under water .one trick you could try is to cut a sort of run out of the bank and try snareing them or even dig out and put a plastic pipe in the bank to put your fens in out of sight then cover the pipe with soil and i wouldnt think anyone will bat an eyelid it will just look like a hole in the bank .As for bait try a can of sardines but cover with salt to stop the flys in the summer .
  10. Think you may be right there J Darcy .See them on ebay a lot for sale from the usa .
  11. Looks like it is a cam lock with a beak away link .
  12. Loading the snare isnt the easiest thing to do without damaging the wire if you havent done it befor .Pull the wire too tight and the wire twists and become useless . Have a look on you tube at some of the guys in the USA building loaded snares this will give you the right idea .
  13. Are the snares loaded ?if not get some loaded snares they will be around the fox neck befor it can back out
  14. Have a look to see if the two laying birds are laying somewhere else they may have found a place out of sight if that is possible where you keep your birds
  15. sounds like theres enough food about without it going in the cage .one thing i do is to cover the bottom of the cage with soil so the fox isnt walking on the mesh .
  16. Put some fishmeal ground bait in there that should do the trick .Out side put some fresh rabbit guts in there the flys are on it in seconds
  17. Been having some good bags over the last month on flight lines .The birds are feeding on ivy berries in a very large old wood then flighting back to the nests over the other side of the valley a distance of probably 5 miles or so .
  18. contact the people who own the car park to sort it out if the rats are coming from there .But the rats must be coming into or through your garden for some reson .this will be for food or water .Has anyone got a bird table ?poultry near by ?.take one of these two things away and you wont get them anymore
  19. Get them set again paul and lets see some more catches like that !
  20. I think you would notice if the traps were being taken out of the ground and put back in .maybe there is a small amount of moles there despite the amount of activity you are seeing .
  21. How much would it cost to have a mole done ?
