    Bull shite mate,because that's what you get on all these threads regarding Plummer terriers.love him or loath him makes no difference to me and personally couldn't give a shit either way.But some of us do choose to work his terriers and that is our own personally choice we're not forced to do so. Maybe if I New ten years ago what Know now about the bullshit and bickering amongst Plummer owners I would have stuck to working JRT.     Hello fatalad I'm no expert,but I do believe that bull blood was used rather than fell or Russell was not to improve working ability,but rather to improve health. As at that time(1990s)a lot of fells and Russell's carried Perths disease and pattella luxation as did a lot of Plummers at that time and sexual dimorphism was rife amongst the breed. To remedy these problems bull blood was used,hope this is of some use like I say I'm no expert but a lot of folk are using new blood dogs(the blood was introduced in 1998)happy hunting Keith j.

    Size was bred out over a couple generations I own a bitch with new blood and seen dozens of others with new blood and they are all very similar in size averaging 12 to 14 tts. We're as some of the lines with old blood are so inbred as sexual dimorfism is rife. I've seen some males from certain strains stand over 16 inches tall and little scrorny bitches. I wouldn't be worrying to much about dogs with new blood In them as the're more uniform than a lot without it in. And after all it was Plummer himself that brought the outcross in.     Hello there wm yes it's bin a while hope you and your dogs are doing well. Your one of the few that dose Work your dogs and not a one track pony like a lot of folk.there's just so much bull shit in the Plummer terrier world.more folk should be out there working their little dogs to what ever they can and enjoy it. Lot of things have changed for a lot of folk due to this ridiculess ban.     lot of folk will be cutting there noses of to spite there faces.only rat dogs?does that mean there not tested...dug too?does that mean there seasoned fox dogs or bin dug to once or twice in there lives.what im saying here is,is a dog that has bin dug to once or twice and done nowt else more worthy to be put over your bitch than lets say a dog that see's work three for times a week,bushing, ratting out in all weathers working for hours on end taking bite after bite of rattus yet still pushing its nose in to pull out another rat, be bit again for its troubles and not flinch.these little terriers

    well lads thought i'd have my ten bobs worth again on this subject.since my last post on this thread in January i have killed just over a thousand rats,on one particular hunt we killed over 250 rats ,there were over ten dogs present and as many people[not ideal i know as i prefere to hunt with two or three tops.]two dogs were mine my plummer bitch and merle collie bitch,my plummer accounted for at least 45 too 50 of these rats my collie 30 or so.there were couple of border lakei's, patt ,beddie and the odd lurcher thrown in all these other dogs were decent rat killing dogs that maybe killed ra

    some good pics there WM,did you take your avitar pic at the show lol.it was a good show some nice small leveled out type terriers there and a lot were used for work.it was a well run show,and like you said it was nice to actually put faces to names and had a good bit crack with some folk,credit to a lot of folk there and there dogs ATB keith j..
