now's a good time bud assuming he has a full mouth[adult teeth] just take him to some where where rats are feeding out ,so the dog can have a chance,as rats sometimes feed a few yards away from there holes ect,i find lamping rats is best for this,at least it'l give you pup a chance to make some ground on the feeding rats,it will only be a mater of time before he'll make a kill, failing that try ferreting them ,smoking them has some good results too.good luck with your young dog and happy hunting, keith j.

There you go again digger man,i 'cry to no one,and have cried to no mods, you obviously have a problem with folk who rat and bush there terriers,so the problem lies with you my friend ,as i have no problem with what my dogs do or any one else's ,if you take the time to look back on our posts you'l see you were the one abusing me long before i bit back at you,you don't know when to stop, you may dig with your dogs, good on you .why slate dogs that rat and bush [are they really cowards] don't think so nor are people who work them.you are very opinionated digger man ,but can't seem to take on board -

fk me boby if you do have a big cock you must be wearing it on your shoulders, unlike yourself boby ive no need to shout from the roof tops for all to hear, what i do with my dogs,i'm no clown either [as you seem to have met quite a few] nor have i jumped on any band wagon after the ban.got my first working terrier in 1978,and yes boby done earth work with here as i did with all my terriers till 2006,but have no need to shout about it.ive not slated you your dogs as i myself have a passion for all working terriers what ever there breed or job may be,obviously you have a problem with that, and aft -

jonny and keith you sound like right f****n faggots-you been giving durham shit for awhile now-you know hes right and you 2s are just bitter c**ts with a kennel each full of spewers that will only look at a rat.IF THEY WHERE MINE THEY WOULD HAVE THE SHOVEL 1 WAY OR ANOTHER. just what i expected from you boby boy,you comments are so hurt full, let people on here make there own minds up who've read these post's.you and one or to others like yourself are one track pony's,it's plane to see by your post's that you are so full of your own ego, your heads so far up your own arse, that its affecting -
what defines a working terrier?
keith j replied to the durham digger's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
wm as per usual your posts are spot on,your a very knowledgeable man,but where not all in the same position as yourself ,i have myself worked terriers for 34 years, and up until the ban,all my terriers done earth work, not to the level of yourself or some other folk on here, but they went to ground all the same and done the job, they also excelled at ratting. But as it stands now fox hunting is illegal [well for me any ways]unless like yourself, you have permission to do so,which i don't.but i still work my my terriers on a regular basis for rat and rabbit,i would never compare earth work to ratti -

for fk sake digger man,put a thread on about ratting poodles, and you'l get some input.stop downgrading folk and there dogs because they kill rats or bush rabbits, there all working terrier's,i'm sure you have real m'coy earth dogs, nobody is slating your dogs so do us all a favour and fking do one,i'm really tierd of all you insults and unconstructive bull shit. -

what defines a working terrier?
keith j replied to the durham digger's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
fk me a terrier's a terrier,a collie's a collie weather it works sheep or not,i own plummer terriers,my pall owns lakelands, yes granted terriers that go to ground may have there metal tested more than terriers that work above ground, but there all terriers, since the ban not every one has acses to earth work, doesn't mean there dogs arn't capable of the job.as stated in another post terrier[terra]means earth or earth dog,but terriers have been worked as versitile dogs for a hell of a long time, bull terriers have had to go jaw to jaw in bloody combat fore god knows how long, should they not be call -
totally agree bud ive had my terriers badly bitten up off a days ratting, rat hunting to me is a fantastic sport, fast and furious ,especially when hunted in number, and myself and the dogs love it ,ive done plenty of fox work with my dogs[ post ban] which i also enjoyed ,also love ferreting and bushing with my dogs, but for me ratting comes up trumps. But to say rat hunting is a sport for pups and girlie's,what's all that about ,seems to me that ratting isn't manly enough for some people [digger man ,boby black.]why slate another man;s choice of work they choose fore there dogs, isn't this a hunti

Yearly vaccinations for your ratting dogs
keith j replied to johnny 777's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
i like yourself mate have seen a good terrier die because it was not boostered against leptospirosis [weil'sdisease] i myself get my dogs jabbed every year against this disease'i think 30 quid a year is a small price to pay if you value you dog,yes some dogs may build up natural immunity's ,but for me i certainly wont be taking that chance with my dogs, happy hunting to you all. -
yeah your probably right jonny they do sound like a pair of f....ing tits, waste of time trying to be sival to the likes of these people, and yeh your right digger man maybe you should f..k of to china and take that prick boby black with you,and do us all a favour ,you pair of egotistic plonkers.heard it all before my dog works fox so i'm hard as f...k,you and you jumped up arse liking prick of a mate boby black are a disgrace to real dignified terrier men who work there dogs to all quarry, rats included, nothing else to say to you pair of ignorant pricks, and like you keep saying digger man'nob of

nice you took the time to read my posts ,means a lot to me,thanks for the comment.looking forward to reading some of yours, sure they'l be educational and an interesting read, then maybe i can return the compliments, happy hunting.

bla bla bla digger man,its good this conversation ends hear with you, your knowledge is over welming, its good your cousins a vet suppose your uncle's an astronaut,so hurt by you constructive comments, wont lower my self by slagging you, let people make there own minds up,good day to you digger man.
-
judging by you posts digger you know everything, yes you maybe right there are no vaccinations in the uk against lepto [weil's disease] but there is vaccinations in other country's china ,cuba ect,so there are vaccinations for people, but animal vaccinations are available in this country, yes there are a few forms of lepto, but the animal vaccination dose cover leptospirosis, weil's disease, rat catchers yellows, black jaundice call it what you want.the injection given by vets dose cover this strain and only has a 12 month life span, hence the need for yearly boosters.but since you know more than medi
-
if you do your home work you'l find that the injection dose give the pup immunity and yearly boosters do help keep the immune system strong,as do like you said regular work and contact with rats keeps it up aswell. And i'm quite aware of the many diseases rats carry [bin hunting them for long enough]and have seen un inoculated dogs die,yes the disease is quereable if symptoms are detected in time, but don't you think prevention is better than quere ,every ones intiteled to there opinion .wats the nob off all about .
-
rats do carry leptospirosis and it can and dose kill dogs, the same as leptospiral juandise can and dose kill people, same disease .yes a lot of un inoculated dogs do run the gauntlet and come out the other side un scaved, and some don't ,so ask yourself this, is it really worth risking your valuable hard working little companion for the sake of a few quid, certanly wouldn't risk mine, not telling anyone how to go on with there dogs ,but have enough experience to give some advice if some one asks for it.happy hunting
-
yes mate, your dog should be vaccinated especially if your working it to rats, rats are carriers of quite a few not so pleasant diseases, one of which is leptospirosis or leptospiral jaundice ive known of dogs die of this disease ,i get my dogs boostered every year, work rats on a regular basis. not worth taking a chance for the sake of 30 quid a year per dog, vaccinating any dog is a must whether you work them or not, more so if you do.happy hunting.
-
live trapping rats will serve you and your dog no purpose at all,you want your dog too hunt the rats you expect it to kill.never heard so much shit'e,next people will be telling you to put your dog in a barrel full of rats',i wonder 'do some folk really hunt at all.Rats are nocturnal feeders, there are lots of places you will find at least a few rats kicking about, just take you dog to the rats and the dog will work the rest out for her self happy hunting my friend.
-
i'm the same as yourself bud ,ive killed thousands of rats over 34 years, ive seen a few dogs die of lepto, the strain of lepto carried by rats is the same strain my dogs get jabbed with, wouldn't take the risk mate fore 30 quid a year, never lost a dog to this diseese ,but this is my oppinion and you have yours, but never the less, wish you all the best and happy hunting my friend.
-
shame that bud, reason i ask ,is' i had to have one off mine pts due to kidney failure, wasn,t down leptospirosis.it was kidney failure found in old dogs.some of the old lines carry this defect [hence the influx of new blood and selective breeding]were the dogs die fairly young.'my bitch was seven when she died.I rat on a regular basis so get my dogs jabbed every year against leptospirosis, just curious thought you mite of experienced the same faults as my bitch had, cheers bud .keith j.
