  1. Like I said whatever suits you is your business I've no experience with the breed so that's why I'm asking. Tell me this, every time these Plummer terriers are brought up in certain topics, threads, books or magazines there is always statements like "most versitile terrier" etc. To put it straight to you because that's just the type of person I am even in person. If they're not really a digging dog but you'd get the odd one would go but nothing serious etc. Then apart from bushing and general rabbiting duties and off course ratting etc. What makes them so versatile because any terrier I have i
  2. Well when you say someone is alienating terrierwork and doesn't like what you do, that isn't healthy discussion in my eyes especially when there's no substance behind your post. As for legalities if you do dig to a few of them, that's well and good. Just make sure you don't have them of the lead at the same time chasing something because after more than one goes to ground your not within the law. Yet you have 3 or more running loose after a rabbit at one time without any equipment to locate them if they decide to go to ground. So that tells me you're not worried because you know yourself it's
  3. Have to agree with you there, a good gundog cross will do all the bushing and a few lurchers for catching them would be plenty. Would save a lot of unnecessary feeding and lifting up shit. 3 terriers chasing a rabbit! I wouldn't like to imagine what would happen if 3 terriers we have where let out to hunt along side one another. Sort of puts it into perspective. Hey each to there own but a kennel full of rabbit hunting/catching terriers that can kill rats doesn't really cut the mustard imo. Maybe better suited for the bushing section. Bushing section is all about gun dogs and crosses, as I h

  5. Same here Rat face I like the way it's more compact and solid but I'm not that fussed on the slide. I preferred the slide on the original peips, I used to wash it and dry it off then a wee touch of Wd40 and slide it a few times to make sure it's sliding free so I'll do the same with this one. Other than that they're a great job, go into your pocket easy.
  6. Elastration Pabs used for castration or docking.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elastration
  7. Just watched an episode of countryfile and they where saying the Irish government are planning on getting the badgers to eat the vaccine they dug a hole outside a set deep enough that a fox wouldn't smell the berry and seed balls mixed with the tb vaccine but the badgers would smell them through the ground. So they dig them up eat them and hey presto. Said it seems to be getting good feedback. Interesting.
  8. Will they not kill reds? RacistsFunny enough the same type of conversation came up a while back with a group of us, one lad in particular that is very smart in all aspects of wildlife etc. Said that a Pine Marten will catch grey squirrels but not reds as the reds are too fast and even if the Marten follows the reds out onto thin branches it will stop! as it knows the red is lighter in weight and the Marten won't venture any further onwards in pursuit so the red will in turn, live for another day. I thought about it after and thought that's makes sense, then after more thought I said to myself
  9. Just seen this on another site. Have to feel sorry for this man, he's devastated. Some parts of the country is coming down with them. http://www.longfordleader.ie/video/home/234811/video-longford-man-devastated-following-pine-martens-attack-on-his-hens-and-partridges.html
  10. I said he wasn't the same standard as the rest of the dogs and bitches at the time..... which he wasn't! You trying to tell me I don't know the difference in what dogs I've dug over the years that are real good dogs and that the ones that aren't as good as them, are actually as good ? Dead on. The man that got him was happy enough with him that's all that matters. Bull seen him work and said he lay slack at times in silence and he'd bother getting on again in certain places at times when he was given the flick. But they still got plenty of digging with him regardless. If you are having trouble
  11. That was him alright Bmc. All off a sudden my mate that sent him down to be worked by another man is a peddler even though no money was involved I should know because I was present on both occasions. Also I've lost count of the amount of dogs and pups I've been gifted over the years off the same man and plenty of other folk too for that matter and never was a penny asked for any of his dogs. Some amount of muppets on here.
  12. You said there was a deal and there wasn't. Then you mentioned 500 for services. That's none of my business. As for wet panties lol trust me there was no sleep lost over him. Undertaker no one said the dog was rubbish I'll repeat once more he wasn't of the same standard or thought of as much as other dogs and bitches at the time, it's as simple as that. Atb.
  13. Roy it sounds like your not happy that the dog wasn't returned to RB, why? So he could have been bred off regardless of the fact that he was a middleton dog at best! LOL. As already said there was no deal anyway. I dont know off many great working terriers that are given to other men to work away at for FREE. How many times does it have to be said that there was better dogs and even better bitches being worked with them lads at the time and Ali wasn't one of them. That's why he wasn't bred off and that's why no one up here in that circle had a kennel space for him, simple as. Pd got him and
  14. According to lads up north who had the dog said he wasn't up to much. And passed him on. I'll tell you what's some carry on. And that's that the dog should of being given back to RB as he told me when JH had pup of him that was the deal pass back the dog if he don't suit. Ray I dug over the dog when he was in the North and I am friendly to this day with all them lads. I was speaking to Rob about it a few years back. Either way it's none of your business.
  15. Paying a stud fee for a dog that a man has on loan from another lad and he's lining his pockets with it without the owners knowledge, that's some way to operate lol.
  16. There must have been enough talk about him if lads where paying 500 to get a service of him. Dear bless us.
  17. Thanks for that Mush. Any out of Tonic we had weren't as good as the stuff from Sam, don't get me wrong you'd have dug to them but what we noticed about some stuff of Tonic was that if it was in a big place and things weren't straight forward and game not prepared to sit tight and be dug, at times the Tonic stuff was lacking getting on again and getting a result. I seen it with my own eyes. The "Ali" dog for one was a perfect example. I run it past RB and he didn't have any quims or quams when I told him I thought the stuff from Sam was a lot better he just thanked me for my honesty. EDITED to

  19. Wasn't many that dug to Tonic, she was too hard for her own good and had to be retired at a young age. Hall of fame.
