If you want to PM me your number I will pass it on to Tench for you.

Eminently sensible suggestion Reaper. However, it's not that old and I neither want nor can afford to take the hit on selling it second hand and then adding more money to the pot to buy another one. A couple of inches off the barrel would likely be the cheaper option. The cheapest option would be to get a hole saw, and cut a hole in the gun cabinet for your rifle to fit into... That too is a good idea Kurt. However, the reason my gun cabinet is too short is that it's got an internal ammo safe. I'm not sure what my FEO would say about me hacking a hole in the floor of the b

I envy you Skot. I'm seriously tempted to have a couple of inches chopped off of mine just so I don't need to.
-
Skot - I've got the FAC version and, because of the long barrel, I have to remove my mod every time I put it into the gun cabinet. I've found that, provided I grab hold of the barrel just below the mod with the other hand while unscrewing the mod, I've never found any problems with the barrel coming loose.

I was talking to Tench about my HW100 and he mentioned that some people over-tighten the grub screw that holds the barrel in place. This results in it being pushed back into the block further than it should be and this causes problems. Just 'tweak' up the grub screw when you replace the barrel and, provided you've followed A1WOC's advice and put it back 'dry', you shouldn't have any more problems.

Tench can be contacted by going to the Shooting the Breeze forum and sending him a PM. He can be a bit tardy at checking his messages but he gets back eventually. Alternatively, if you're in a hurry, let me know and I'll contact him for you.

I've got about a dozen tree rats in the freezer so it's on the menu for next week.

Here ya go Phantom. It looks like the link got broken when the thread was moved.

Something I came across on The Telegraph website - not that I think too many Telegraph readers will be jumping out of their cars to retrieve the bunny they've just mown down on the A46. Nevertheless, they look worth trying. The one thing that you must do is to watch the video on how to cook the squirrel. Peter Stafford's comments at the end are priceless.

Pellet Pouches?
PaulEamonn replied to Skot Ruthless Teale's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I bought a couple of those PelletSafe tins from Range Sports. I reckon they are the dog's. Probably not that good while out hunting unless you line the tin like Pianoman suggests. But for generally keeping pellets around the place that my old arthritic hands can access easily, they are the business. Giro - the video you are looking for is on here. -
That's spooky Moxy. I said something very similar to that on both occasions.

I'll have to look ay the instructions again as I thought it was 6 inches I wasn't having a pop at you at all mate. I actually thought your link was very funny. It was an "in general" statement. As this just happens to be a topic I know the answer to (even though it looks like a certain member doesn't believe me), I thought I'd share the knowledge. Especially as I probably won't know the answer to the next 10 questions I see. I wasn't questioning your post mate , I was questioning my own as I've always done mine from about six inches feck knows where I got that information from , th

Smithy........SMITHY....................!!! Where are you, you naughty boy? See what you've gone and done now? You've asked a sensible question and upset everyone. You've now started off one of those debates that will run for 14 pages until the mods get fed up with it taking up bandwidth and then they will lock it like they have done the others. I hope you're please with yourself! Now go and sit in the corner of a field somewhere and shoot your gun through you Chrony until you realise your mistake................. then come back and say - (but not until at least pag

Crikey we are talking about a 14 year old lad, so we could start a debate about if we really have free will and the moral consequences of placing any blame etc or just say that everyone makes mistakes for one reason or another and he has now learned his lesson. Even if it was just a subconscious process, the point is to be consciously aware of what you are doing with a firearm and possibly the best way to be reminded of this is a bad experience when something goes wrong, I think the OP did the right thing and has been doing the right thing or something like this wouldn't be a surprise. Or

I can't see how you can say that Smithy got offended. After all, he 'Liked' one of Craig's posts! Personally, I thought they were both good 'uns. Smithy - From my 'research' Walshie has got it spot on - how can I call shooting a gun repeatedly 'research'? Hmmmm, maybe that's the way to do it lads......"Sorry luv, can't come shopping. Got to do some 'research'........". You may also want to try running the test without your mod. I read somewhere that it could make a difference and so I tried it and it did. The only thing is, I can't find the 'research' notes. Maybe I ought to

Sorry to p1ss on everyone's parade with the psych-babble bit but I suspect it may not be as simple as giving the boy '...a bollocking that he'll not forget...' What I suspect has happened here is that he (like us all at some stage in our lives) has subconsciously automated a process that he has performed flawlessly at the right time a thousands before. However, on this occasion, he performed it flawlessly at the wrong time thus bringing about this apparently 'brainless' mistake. I say 'brainless' on purpose because that was, indeed, what it was. He was simply carrying out a process that

Any chance of a bit more direction on this? Some photos would be good.........and a Youtube video would be better. I certainly know that I would appreciate learning an easier way to breast pigeons.

Now is the time when you wish you were a moderator because, if the forum is set up in the same way as the one on my website used to be, they will get a copy of all threads and posts instantaneously. That means, irrespective of how quickly the OP edits his post, there is still a copy of the original in the moderators Inbox. The number of times I picked up my mail and my first reaction was - sheeeeeeeeeet! You can't write THAT!! But, by the time I'd got onto the forum to sweep up the mess, the OP had often (thankfully) had a change of heart and edited the post to something that looked no

Making Finding The Right Pellet Easy.
PaulEamonn replied to ian118118's topic in General Airgun Discussion
When I first got my HW100, I bought a selection of pellets from one of your (soon to be) competitors. I also had a few hanging around from earlier so I had a fair range to try out. The top list is made up of the pellets that I initially found to have some merit and so I experimented with them more deeply. RWS Super Dome RWS Super Point Air Arms Diablo Field Plus Weihrauch Magnum Weihrauch F&T H&N Barracuda Hunter H&N Barracuda Hunter Extreme H&N F&T Trophy H&N Barracuda Match JSB Exact Power Pell Bisley Magnum This is the list of pellets I found to be -
Making Finding The Right Pellet Easy.
PaulEamonn replied to ian118118's topic in General Airgun Discussion
It would seem to me that finding the right pellets for the sub 12ft/lb guns is easier than finding them for the FAC rated ones. So maybe you need to also include some of the heavier pellets - especially the more difficult ones to find like the new'ish Air Arms Field Diablo Plus. If I were doing this I'd stick to offering all of the better know/higher quality brands and not bother with the cheaper stuff. -

Help With Hawke Chairgun Pro Please.....
PaulEamonn replied to deanothehunter's topic in General Airgun Discussion
.................and then, after you've done what Davy said, you can go to Configuration > Edit Tab Names and then change the name of one of the tabs to .20 Airgun (maybe the 0.17 HMR Rimfire tab if you have no use of it). I must say that I'm not as happy with this version of Chairgun Pro. I preferred it when you could right click on the trajectory line and get a box up with all the details at that point in the pellet's flight.
