  1. Well I finished the session with 9 . When I gathered them up I looked at my bare arm and felt something moving on my skin , and noticed my arm covered in fleas . I’m now itching on my legs and arms , and I’m bitten to f@ck ??? I just got home and my Mrs wants to treat me with Frontline!!! Cheek of it !!
  2. I was using the pulsar N970lrf which may account for me arse ending it . And I agree about one tricky customer ?
  3. Cheers Walshie, took me long enough though ? talk about making a meal of it ?
  4. Sat up a high seat at the moment, knocking some more tree rats over with the 22 . I’ve had five so far . Just been sorting out the water in the main pen . I’ve been running acid through the pipes to clean them out and I’ve got an hour or so to kill before lunch. Nice weather and I can almost see the maize growing after that rain . Life’s good .?
  5. I’m a clay and game shooter and I spent my early shooting life shooting rabbits over spaniels . So the temptation is to give it lead , but with a centre fire it’s straight at it . It all happened fairly quickly, but I was shaking with adrenaline afterwards and it took me ages to get to sleep last night . I think it was Meece who said take it on the run , and he was right . I had no choice really. I’ve shot foxes on the run before but it’s always been a follow up to a miss , so I knew I had it in me , but I don’t care if I never have to do that again .?
  6. You are one of the lucky ones . I could go on about it but “loose lips” and all that. There is a lot to be said in favour of the cull , but ultimately the government could have saved the tax payers millions by just putting badgers on general license. Then the ones who had problems could sort them out and ones that didn’t would leave them alone . All this stems from well meaning activists and government meddling in countryside matters about which they have no understanding. End of rant !!!
  7. If the landowner for your best permission said that he wanted to sign up for the cull and wanted you to do the culling , what would you do ? Because the way it works by me is , if you said no then cull operatives will be assigned that particular parcel of land . The operatives then have a foothold on your permission and in many cases obtain the deer shooting and fox shooting on the land as means of payment from the landowner. That is what “ is “ happening. Guys doing the cull are getting access to massive amounts of permission, so it’s worth the hassle . And “ one for the pot “ hu
  8. I’ve got to say that this was the most difficult fox I’ve encountered. It had been educated and I only had the one place to shoot it . Normally I’ve got large areas where you can get around them and they have to relax at some point . I never ever shoot foxes on the move , I don’t need to , but last night I thought “what have I got to lose”? I’ve neglected the shoot because of this varmint . Time to get out and do some proper foxing .
  9. Well it had to happen . Slinky 2 is no more . Well I hope it’s slinky 2 because I’m done with that place . Two fruitless visits over the weekend and I’d almost resigned myself to not shooting it . I turned up tonight and lay in wait as usual with the shotgun until it got too dark. I switched on the thermal spotter and started to scan around . I spotted a fox in the neighbouring field on the far hedgerow and then it disappeared, then nothing for ages . I walked out into the paddock and set up the icotec 350 . I returned to my vantage point on top of the flood bank and selected the
  10. The science takes time to be proven , but the initial findings are that where the cull has significantly reduced badger numbers the number of TB reactors has fallen . You won’t find any information from participants of the cull on an open forum as there are strict social media rules . But the cull is so widespread now that the antis are too few in number to be anything more than a minor irritation . When the cull first started they were a major pain , but not anymore. The only reason I can see now why anyone would get involved in culling is if the landowner of your permi
  11. I could so easily just put up a picture of a dead fox and say “here it is , Slinky 2” . But I believe in keeping it real . If and when I shoot it I will shout it from the rooftops, in fact I will probably wear it like a scarf around my neck and parade through the village singing Hallelujah. I’ve got until the 29th and then if it remains upshot I will have to admit defeat and forever live with the humiliation.
  12. What’s worse than being called a sissy?? For me it’s “vulnerable “ . The day someone describes you as vulnerable then you know it’s time to cash in your chips . I’ve seen the photos of sausage in his PJs and he’s not got to the vulnerable stage yet . I don’t usually mind a wet night , because I normally shoot from the comfort of a vehicle. But sod getting myself and all my kit wet when there will be a dry night to sit out in soon . Besides which I could get a chill in my vulnerable state .
  13. It didn’t stop pissing down here. So it was tea and biscuits and an early night.
  14. I take it she doesn’t know the code to your phone or have access to your posts ??
  15. Hi Dave , I’ve looked at the weather and it might just stop this evening for a bit . If it does I will . I want to put this job to bed . I’ve got birds going to wood on the 29th.
  16. I wonder how many cash only businesses “ that don’t make much money “ have been unable to get government handouts during this crisis .?
  17. They call it the “thousand yard stare “ used to describe those who’s mind has become blank in order to cope with the horrors they have witnessed .?
  18. Well I’ve been dodging the rain today ( I’m made of sugar) . Swept the barn out ready for my feed delivery, had a general tidy up . Then I thought I’d treat the beaters to some new flags . The old ones have seen better days . And I’m as dry as a bone ?
  19. Me and my wife went to a garden centre on Monday, I think we were one of the first to arrive . They had what looked like an impenetrable maze of orange tape and bollards designed to ensure that the customers keep at a safe distance. We both looked at the Webb of tape to see the entrance , when the over zealous worker pointed out that it was at the other end of the car park. I just picked up the bollards and me and the mrs went under the tape . The attendant , went to say something but my mrs gave her that look that she gives me now and then and I watched her resolve crumble . Little victorie
  20. Have you been studying my technique? I also make make homemade shin pads out of thatching straw . Boom ? coming atcha ?
  21. Gentleman’s ? You assume I’m a gentleman . I was brought up on the mean streets of the Cotswolds . It’s Chinese burns and shin kicking for me ?
  22. I can see where the confusion is . I’m trying to shoot a fox on a small holding, which is really just a family with a big garden with chickens and ducks and geese, they also have a paddock in which they have two horses. It is in the middle of nowhere but is obviously surrounded by farmland . The owners of the poultry “want” the fox shot . They want me to be there . The owner of the surrounding farmland ( the farmer) is fox friendly because his daughters ride out with the hunt and they have meets at the farm . They apparently understand the people want the fox gone and know I’m going there . T
  23. That’s true , but you forgot about Mr May . The badgers best friend.
