  1. Why is it someone has to start givin it the big un on here instead of saying something constructive? If you have nothing sensible to say dont bother pipeing up, and yeah i am busy thanks- business is brisk as f**k, but that might be something to do with the county being underwater. You dont know me or f**k all about me so leave your childish personal attacks out my posts please.
  2. Yeah mate, im living in a pumping station off bentley moor lane pumping backed up water off the fields, then when im done here im back up pumping water off marsh lane.... its not how i hoped xmas would pan out, i will be living rough until first or second week in january! I tried a few places local to me last week and almost every spot i went to was holding water. Its typical that i have a bitch ready to start and im struggling to find. Plenty of foxes about though, we knocking plenty out of cover while out for a walk! Frustrating!!
  3. Thats a shame mate, having to retire a handy dog early because of injury is always hard to stomach, but when its down to some c**t that cant take the time to have a tidy up that must be maddening. People like that do genuine dog lads and our sport no favours, make sure when your paths cross you do him none!! Good luck with the future.
  4. This past year has been wet and shitty in my area, with large areas of my permission flooded what seems like every other week. Unlike rabbit numbers which seem to be down countrywide we have a strong fox population despite the weather and lampers... the problem is my pipes and earths on the lower ground are f****d and holding a lot of water, iv had a bit of joy in rock piles but nothing to write home about. I think that the best holding places at the moment will be bales so im planning an assault on the bale stacks next out..... how is this shit weather effecting your work and how are you
  5. I would say at the moment there are probarbly more folk digging to patts than any other terrier. Like moorside has said mate look for a dog from a working line. If you can get a young unspoilt dog from working parents, grandparents etc that will give you a good chance of success.
  6. Its like this mate- i started this thread becaause i knew that it would devide opinion between some very educated terriermen and some not so educated and would make interesting reading for all, but some folk just cant resist to go away from the topic and have a pop at me. If they dont like the topic, dont comment simple! I havent said a word since very early on but i have read and appreciated comments both sides of the debate. All i am saying is if someone wants to have a pop at me, pm me, i will send my address and we will sort it out behind closed doors. If not dont waste my time having a po
  7. Patterdales as a lot of people call them are fells, do your homework.
  8. Moskow what have i to get over? I started the topic and said f**k all since.... i am happy with the terriers i give kennel space, probarbly more so than mr plummer is with the way his terrier turned out due to other groups of peoples interference, dont try and goad me pal coz i wouldnt give you the steam of my shit, you arnt worth a reaction. I wanted to hear peoples opinions and i thank everyone of you lads for your constructive opinions and views, but as far as nobs taking this as an oppurtunty to have a swipe at me, pm me, il send you my address and come and see me insread of comeing the c
  9. A patterdale is a fell... people have a misconception that a patterdale is most commonly a smooth black or chocolate terrier, it is infact a fell terrier, the name patterdale is misleading as it suggests this type of terrier was developed in that area of england and there is no evidence to suggest this is true, only evidence to contradict the name! the term fell terrier isnt a breed its a type and covers a broad spectrum of terriers formed from breeding various strains or lines of working terrier from the north of england, fell terriers may be a variety of colours, black, black and tan, grizzl
  10. As above mate, if you possibly can get out with experienced lads and dogs and teather your terrier at a dig when the fox is dispatched allow your young dog a mouthfull. If like me you have a lot of clay pipes in your area, allow an experienced dog to run a pipe first to ensure its empty (remember to net up or stand a gun) then if empty allow the experienced dog to run it again but this time allow your young un to follow just to let it gets head around being underground. At your dogs age if its collared up, run him loose and theres a good chance he might use his nose and find charlie to ground
  11. A friend of mine owns a springer x beagle its shit hot at finding!
  12. My terriers give a good solid mark if i take them coupled up to an earth. If you want a dog specifically for marking earths i would look into getting a hound or hound cross.
  13. Nice one mate! A lot would have killed him, took photos and invented stories to claim some sort of glory. Charlie owes you a bit of gratitude there mate!
  14. I know what you mean mate, the bang on for running a dog loose with the range they have. I dont know how i managed with the knocker box now that iv upgraded.
  15. Nice stamp.... hope it makes the grade mate!
  16. Its a c**ts trick what they done, the locator and tools are expensive but you can replace them... getting the right dogs in to suit your work isnt so easy though. They have known what they looking for.
  17. I just gave a mk1 box and collar away a few weeks back, i will ask around the lads local to me if anyone has anything.
  18. I wish i still had my old deerhound cross he would let them in, he used to even wag his tail.... but when anyone tried to leave he used to nail them if i wasnt there to stop him, he was a pure c**t, but handy to have around. They have checked your yard out before hand by the sounds of things mate.
  19. No problem mate, it seems to be more and more common.... my yard is totally covered in cameras but i doubt that would stop them, but my pick axe handle might if i catch them!!
  20. Hope you drop on and get to put it to the test mate!
  21. Sorry to hear that mate, there is some f*****g scum about.... i will keep an ear to the ground, hope you get sorted!
