  2. springer x mate, yea she does a fair bit she is no way a 100% earth dog but is more than happy bolting and she can find in huge places that other terriers never do, she will stay to foxes but has come out before after a few hours, she can be called of which is handy, all in all she is more of a all round terrier, the best ratting terrier i have owned and witnessed, and a bloody good bushing dog that will work to hand signals, i suppose alot of terrier men wouldnt entertain her, but i couldnt be without her, and wouldnt sell her for the world horses for courses i suppose, if you're
  3. nice morning for you. does the patt x spaniel do much earthwork? is it a cocker x?
  4. my son is 10 and is often out with the hounds, on digs and lamping, and he loves it. plus he knows to be discreet about it with other kids of his age. but he's got an old head on his shoulders.
  5. best of luck, sure she'll do you proud
  6. Any half decent foxing lurcher worth its salt will do them night and day....the main difference between night and day would be the numbers. in terms of catching and despatching I agree. But daytime when the dog has to find his own stuff, use his nose, to me thats what i meant by different qualties, seen good lamping dogs show no interest in hunting the cover.

  14. i don't think OD is knocking anyone's choice of dog - just that if you keep breeding terrier/spaniel/beagle mixes over a number of years then what do you end up with? Are they really hounds? Do they work like hounds?

  19. Wheatens were bred extensively over here for one purpose Badger Trials and were used extensively for just that. Not for messing at holes pulling out foxes or running through brambles like a fairy after rabbits.People on this site can try and dress them up any way they like and tell us what his coat is like and what height he is and i hope mine is good with the cat and i hope he wont be naughty.A proper bred Wheaten was bred to go up a shore and do his duty.A proper bred Wheaten will fight until he kills or is killed. That defines him as a game dog.Aeron I presume when you say there is only one
