  1. nice looker that, i too have been looking at wmr as a carry about gun for opportunistic shoots at fox and things. also it would silence quite well compared to a c/f, so in theory should attract little attension daytime in places quite close to civilization. as ive stated before ive had bad expierences with the hmr and fox`s even with head shots. Always tricky this one, because it is pretty obvious I like the WMR, this is my second, and both of mine have performed very well, I have been a long term devotee of the calibre, but I also have 2 x .22lr and a HMR and CF etc. As I always say,

  3. Interesting views, thanks folks. I have a cf, but i'm looking at getting a dedicated nv rimfire rifle set-up. I like the extra mass the wmr has, and also the fact that i could have a semi for a change.... Thinking about it, when i put in for a variation, do i just ask for aother .22lr or do i have to state .22WMR?
  4. Hi folks. I'm toying with the idea of getting a dedicated nv rifle set-up. I'm thinking of a .22WMR. Now do i just ask for a .22 Rimfire, or do i have to specify it as a .22WMR Rimfire?? atb Jamie Just to add, does anyone know the price of Hornadys .22WMR V-Max ammo? More than the HMR?
  5. Well it has more power than hmr, carries its downrange energy better, better in the wind, and you can have a semi auto, no brainer if you ask me,but then I am biased as I hate hmrs, lol.
  6. I've seen some footage of the above combo on youtube and wondered if anyone out there was using the same set-up? I'm particularly interested in the trajectory. Is it very flat? On the face of it, it seems a reasonable compromise between 22lr and the .17HMR. Or is it.......
  7. That pal, is the correct answer! It took 5 pages to find someone who posted what i personally would consider the best reply... I have both and regularly use both depending on what i'm doing and where.
  8. As above folks, i'm after a Cobra Optics DSA (Day Scope Adaptor) Let me know the condition and how much you want for it. Cheers Jamie Email jamie.s@fsmail.net
  9. Thanks for the posts Ghillies, much appreciated! And the " tight as a scottsmans butt hole in winter" comment had me p***ing my pants! I'm fed-up of buying bits and bobs that turn out to be a waste of money! If the Yukon Photon 5x42 was on the market now, i'd buy it in an instant! But it's not.....
  10. Ghillies, For most people just getting into NV, Including me) your post would send them running to Nite-Site or other suppliers. I've been getting my head round diy NV for a few months now but parts of your post had me scratching my head. Just to add that it's not due to a crap post from you, as it all seemed good advice, (from what little i know!! ) but if your not "electronically" minded it's like a mechcano set with no pictures and german instructions! The Oslon LED's and thermal base are the dogs danglies from what i understand....? But it would be good to see a "How to" post on the f
  11. Cheers for pictures Chris. I'll post my bipod first thing tomorrow recorded delivery. Thanks again. Jamie.
  12. Cheers fellas. I don't mind the jokes to be fair. I take the p*** alot, especially with my mates so i can only expect it back. But i appreciate your consideration.
  13. Is there such a thing as an adults electric powered quad, or rather battery powered? And before it comes up, yes i know they sell quads in toys r us! Joke and apart, i've got a degenerative desease and struggle to get around in the outdoors. I've looked at going the whole hog with a road going 4x4, like a discovery. Good for lamping out the roof, but so noisey day or night! But i could get a quad and leave it at the farm. However, i intend on trying to aquire more land, and if i'm fortunate to do so i'll then need a trailer which would be a right pain. I know there's the pain of opening ga
  14. Could you put some pics up please?? Also, whats the mileage?
  15. Thanks for the replies fellas. The person who made the youtube links does make mention, (somewhere) of not going below 75 watts and making sure what you pay for is definately 75 watts as some are sold as 75 watts, but are much lower.... I've not had time to get around to it yet as concentrating on my reloading data. Slow but getting better.......
  16. I've used the 24 grain NTX Hornady Superformance in my .204. Only had the one box of 20 as i was trying various brands for my new rifle. Every shot was under an inch at 100 yards, just abit light if theres a breeze...
  17. Did you mean to post this somewhere else? I just read this and thought the same....
  18. I use Hawke Panarama on my rimfires. Never lost zero and both have had a moderate knock and used weekly. If on a centrefire i'd go for either a top Hawke scope or an S&B or similar. New or used depending on your budget..... Have fun!..........
  19. Must be quite a sight watching her feed foxes from her "back door"!! Must take some practice to!
  20. I know the calibre is well capable of dropping a fox way over 40-5- yards, as a .22lr would. It's more a case of me being too over cautious on the clean kill thing.... Having spoken with the farm owner it's seen at that location on a regular basis. So we'll meet soon enough! Whats with the .17hmr Syria story??
  21. sounds like they formed an underground union and are protesting that you have a .204 ruger!! Maybe! I saw one today at 3.40pm very close to the farm house. It was running flat out away from me into a small coppice. It looked to be a very big fox. It's coat was very red and it looked abit rough! I only had my .17hmr anyhow, so unless it was a sure head shot at 40 yards max i wouldn't have tried to shoot it anyhow. mate you needed to catch that fox, it was probably the union rep!! By the state of him he must be the "Boss"!
