Info Needed On Reloading The .22 Hornet,
jam1e replied to jam1e's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Thanks both CC and Lewdan, much appreciated. But my new .22 Hornet plans may be already over.... I just can't get hold of any powder in the latest Lee reloading data book, let alone lil gun or H110! Anybody who knows where any is for sale please let me know!!..... It's such a pi**er as half a pound would last me an age!! -
Wms 'sniper For A Day' Experience
jam1e replied to paulbanco's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
That's good. I just wondered because I've never ever seen a rifle chambered for it for sale in the UK, even amongst the "sniper rifles". ten grand and its yours "Global rifle. Sniper systems" Anyone got a tissue? And no it's not as i'm crying due to never being able to afford one! -
Perhaps it's personal reasons, or a specific task? Permission land maybe limited to fac air due to .22lr ricochet?? Or maybe, as i used to say to an annoying person at work, "because i can"!

Wms 'sniper For A Day' Experience

Sounds great. But as with most things in life, it doesn't look like they cater for people with a physical disabilitiy. In my case walking very far. However................, You said, " they have you shooting at, and hitting targets out to over 800 yards" The site states the £220 covers 50 .22lr and 50 .223. Were you shooting at 800 yards with .223 rounds!? Or can you pay extra for the .308 use/rounds?? Just to add, i'm not "poo pooing" the site or the "experience". It looks the dogs boll****! I'd love to do it! -
Info Needed On Reloading The .22 Hornet,
jam1e replied to jam1e's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Thanks CC,much appreciated. What would you say is "your" most accurate round? As in powder, load, bullet, and bullet weight and type? I appreciate a lot of the time the most accurate load will be "gun specific", but i'm just after a starting point?? Cheers -

Info Needed On Reloading The .22 Hornet,
jam1e replied to jam1e's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Cheers LD! Could you suggest a site that's dedicated to the .22 Hornet or has a lot more info on using it and reloading for it? Can you tell me what your most accurate load is including what bullet is used?? cheers Jamie -
Hi folks, Just a quick question really regarding the c.o.a.l. How does the .22 Hornet like the rounds. Touching the lands and grooves??, a thou off touching ?? I thought all rounds like to be as close to the lands and grooves as possible but it turned out my .204 Ruger prefers quite a jump to the lands/grooves?? Some advice would be appreciated

Do I Really Need A Reloading Manual¿¿¿¿¿
jam1e replied to GEOFF.223's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
I was advised by several people on forums to buy the latest, "Richard Lee, modern reloading (second addition). I took that with a pinch of salt. But then i spoke with someone in person who does 1000 yard benchrest comp shooting and he also said, "as a beginner" i should get the Lee book. He said not to just use it for the data on all the known calibre when reloading. He said to read the first few chapters on reloading itself. I bought the book and duly read it. It made some grey areas alot more clear to me. And i refer to it alot now for various reloading data. Was certainly worth the money. A -
Now sorted, having bought a set from Mark, (dogfox69). Trusted seller! Cheers Mark!

The Style was not designed to have a Floating Barrel, and it hardly matters anyway on a HMR, virtually everyone who mounts a bipod on any of the plastic stock CZ Rimfires, and many of the wood stocks, ends up contacting the barrel, so does anyone who uses a sling, they tend to be rather flexible! I wouldn't totally agree with all of that Dekers. I've had x4 CZ rimfires, and still own 2. X2 in wood, one in .22, one in .17hmr. And the same again in plastic. Only one was affected by either using a bipod or resting the stock on any given surface with a little downward pressure, this did res

I've been lucky to be fair Rimmer. Although i did have to wait quite a while for something last year and was getting p****d off so i gave them a call. That left me feeling worse as the bloke on the end of the phone was totally uninterested..... From what i've been told, (i may be wrong) Pete doesn't actually run the company, or "man the phones". But his personality is such that i don't think you'd get much change out of him either! He's what you would call an "aquired taste" Recently i was in his shop. My god is it an Alladins cave!! I heard a posh customer ask him if he prefered to be cal

Sounds like i've made the right decision to get one... I spoke with Pete Starly the other day, (owner/co owner of Midway UK) about the .22 Hornet. He said it was a very underated round and agreed that it's very versatile. As i'm suspicious of everything/everyone, i thought it was a sales pitch, but he didn't have any in stock anyhow I need to get my variation in today, rather than spending too much time just talking about the round.... My next job is finding a rifle.... I've seen a few used here and there, and they were a tad battered. Which in my mind also indicates how the mechanical si

That post was amusing My understanding is that due to the shape of the brass, headspace can become inaccurate. Or at least that was my understanding However, as i'm due to own a .22 Hornet shortly i have read oodles of reviews, and it seems that to get sub 1" moa you need to reload, and in some cases crimp the case. So be it! I like reloading, so it's not an issue. And bar use of my time, the .22 Hornet comes out at least the same price as the hmr. Only, it's more versatile with regard to the load needed/wanted. Less suseptible to wind, and reasonably flat with a light fast load. Thats my c

22 Lr Quick Question For You Guys????
jam1e replied to lampingking's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I'm with the "get out and try it" group. I know Hawke scopes get slagged off. But I love the Hawke Panorama EV range. And i've got one on my .22lr and .17hmr. However I've used the Hawke Ballistic Range Calculator (BRC) several times, and found it totally inaccurate. I've put the needed data into the BRC accurately as possible several times, but it's still way off. Maybe it's atmospherics???? Mine are zeroed at 50 yards on the range. I then just practiced on the 25 yard and 100 yard range to get the right hold over/under. They don't do a 75 yard range at our club so i just went out in the fie -
Anybody Seen Or Used One Of These??
jam1e replied to jam1e's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
The accuracy issues are a concern to be honest. Although having read "umteen" amounts of research material on the web, i'm hoping that reloading my own will make the difference needed to get the sub 1" moa i'd like. Even if i have to crimp..... I could go on about why, but most are just personal choices, and experiences i'd like to try out. Along with, why not try something different..... -

On the same wave length as you CC Accuracy was what i thought about. It must be total sh**e! I'm just in the process of putting in a variation for a .22 Hornet. I have the .22lr, which like most people i'd never part with it..... I have a .204 Ruger. Cracking calibre, but you have to reload, unless you have deep pockets! I also have a .17 hmr. However i've decided the .22 Hornet is alot more versatile, and as i reload it seems the right way to go..... -
NowSorted...... As above folks i'm after a full die set for a .22 Hornet. I need a full length sizer, neck sizer, and seating die. Also, flaring and crimping dies would be good! No heavily used or worn-out rubbish though folks..... Thanks.
