I have 2 jagds now, one serbian and one scandinavian. 2 different type of dogs. I also owned ch serbian dog, the best dog ive had, unfourtnaley he died, but his sharpness and sound was thebest ever and very hard dog and great obedience. Anyway, the serbian dog I have now is very hot and works too hard, he is better underground than above but perhaps too large. scandinavian female is a different animal, very hard and has a less intense worktype but saves energy and works longer. Serbian dogs I believe is one of the best in europe cause its been hard selected and much more chosen on abilities fo

its an accident. happends time from time when you have dogs. Get the tools and it can be sorted at home, shaver, cleaning stuff, some needles or staple guns etc. Some penicillin. Rest. Then make sure that next time tendencies are being showed, just slap with leash over the nose or make sure they know you are the one calling the shots. it completely idiotic and has nothing to do wit hhunting and aggressivness with other dogs. they work toghether, yes, it can be some dogs that guard whats been shot or done for them for other dogs but not in a big sense. if you have a dog for 12 months nothing sh

tesckels come in longhair, rough coat or smooth, smooth are coloured black n tan or red, rough grey/dirty n longhaired usually red. seen some longharied hunt only above as baying dogs, most people use smooth for undergorund and baying and rough are ralaey used for anything else then above. they looked crossed but when stood side by side you see tehre it not many similarites except 4 legs, nose n tail. working ability rough n smooth are often top dogs, tday long coated are rarely seen. teckels are widely used over here, and very much liked, slow n not to intense, very good allrounder, hard dogs

Sounds like its all there, with those oppurtunities its not an effort to get a lot of dogs selected out, even 3rd chances. In my world i owuld love to keep a litter and select out the best and just going on that, within 3-4 years you could a solid base of dogs. all the best and be aware n responsible, stay safe

Holding A Dog Back Till 2 Or Older ??
treankare666 replied to whitefeet4190's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
that being said i think its easy to stress a young dog to far if it start to work and by that ruinin it for the long run, some are pleasers and some aint, and the pleasers will do better when older... -
Holding A Dog Back Till 2 Or Older ??
treankare666 replied to whitefeet4190's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
its not any mathematics to it, just use your eyes, from 6 m o i think they should get something to react on and se where it goes from there, eventually and hopefully they pick up, but sitting for 2 years n doin nuthin and then being suppose to know the drill thats like asking someone to do a labor he never trained for. i think early signs of not at all having interest pretty much gives a good hint, rarely they turn from white to black due to time and patience. either they dont care/act cold n start later or they start and go from there. from scared to ful out ive not yet seen myself anyway.. -
Lester "mountain Man" Hughes ,passed Away

talked to the man many many years ago. Polite and helpful. -
Yes, early age of course, usually just go out in the forrest and sit with the pup. I just seen a friends jagd screamin and just grab a 120lbs hog straight of, 7 months old, so they usually go early but are unwise. I can image they are in the danger zone for coyotes, like the wolf here. Dogs generally get wiser with age andthe old ones are really clever if they get to that age. There are some countries where jagds breeder association ONLY breed and accept fully proven dogs for matings. No one passes through.

You´re welcome, its just a sum of being around dogs and mostly hunting dogs since the age of 11. I´ve seen great dogs lost in the hands of poor ownership and ive seen decent not even decent dogs be fair hunting dogs due to good ownership/training/time and strong bond with the dog. Of any breed or purpose I always personally like a dog with an attitude that makes it easy to bond good with, cause then you can push that dog to do things it woulnt otherwise do, for you. Yes, I think if you are on the islands a mute is what you want for mooching n underground (generally poaching), get a jagd or

I have only positive things to say about them, ive hunted for them, and crosses, and friends own them, its a hunting dog. Its best used for above ground and shooting, but they do everything, elk, wildboar, deer, fox etc. They are very active and if trained properly there is rarely any problems hunting in packs. Underground i think some are too hard and some are baying in a safe distance but do the job. they have a great size but it can differ from different lines, some are really small and square and some are more leggy. some are flatheaded some are not. coat also comes in rough and smooth. it

English Bull Terriers
treankare666 replied to WorkingBullandTerrier's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Just wanted to add my point of view and i have far/none from the experience workinBT have, but about genetics and DA behaviour and think that goes with a lot of breeds not be trusted to get in scramble at a certain situation, guard dogs, alsations, airforce dogs, rottweilers etc. some dogs are more dominant from the start but some has to be cranked to even open their mouth. i see your point but also keeping them on a chain all day doesnt make them more social then keeping them as a "pet". yard accident rarely occur w 2 dogs living toghether with an owner under normal circumstances, its usually -

Jagd Terriers on Sambar in Australia
treankare666 replied to steamingutpiles's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
This is the main way jagds are used in scandinavia aswell. And to complement them they also do earthwork, there for they use trackers. Usually they dont go to ground, but if you have a fox in front of them that goes down to hole they usually follow. Also it is how you hunt them in as puppies. But you can often hear on their different baying type what they are going after, it changes in intensity if its fox or deer, or wild boar etc also with the distance. Jagds usually work shorter times 10-45 minutes while we sometimes use native dogbreeds that go baying for all days and foremost take very co -
I believe its a day for Glen-enthusiats, fun day for kids n stuff, i mean it used to be the same with the bull breed shows before, and WP-contests, but everyone talked otherwise when on the pub . The best one can do if someone wants the glen to a workable breed is to obtain a pair from as good parents as possible, at least seen them work and then keep maintaining it. I dont think all breeds genetics have gone to waste when some became show breeds, it just pops up more seldom. I read overhere in it is a west hightland white confirmation ch and hunting ch underground. For a fulltime hunter the

Took my glen male 7 mo in the badger test-den and he didnt mind the badger much. Tried him twice now at 10 m o and he surely is workable when it comes to attitude, perhaps more into getting into a rumble with the badger then baying properly, but does it good aswell, so far only been staying on for 5-7 min before i picked him up, but problem is glens are too big today for underground work, even though mine is 28lbs he way to big for the 9' trial-dens over here. There are 11' in ireland that perhaps are suitable, but the glens are not for digging in these parts. I must say though i cant be dissa

a question on breeding regarding wheaten x ebt
treankare666 replied to brenner's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Very interesting topic, one thing to point out i believe is that a 100 years ago man had no knowledge about genetics in the same way do do today, there fir its hard to trace origins. I sometimes believe that there has been hybridation inside the canine world to develop the different type of dogs, or it has been some very small genetic pol breed tight locally, since people lived far from each other and dogs usually follow man and not longer trips could be made easily. Had a neighbour that walked up to me when i walked my glen saying instantly "thatbdog feels like a badger in body and mass" whic
