  1. Wasn't the smithy dog half Lakeland I thought I read that somewhere and a large percentage of today's black dogs have his blood in them so yes you could create a line from different breeds if the right working parents are used. As for size and dogs been too big wasn't smithy also 17 inches to the shoulder and it didn't stop him been the legend he became if you could believe the stories or possibly fables written about him. You could breed white, red or black dogs with each other and have a ruthless selection process for pups and after a couple of generations breeding back into itself the blood

    Cctv

An aggressive dog that you have to feed with a catapult would be better.
  3. Jiggy, Ireland is still a pretty untamed place with lots of lads living the rural way of life and as such still digging without looking over their shoulders, I seen many lads move to Europe and Ireland when the ban came in, these are not an out and out digging dog, I would have to increase their size for serious work but there are simply better terriers for everyday digging, no need to reinvent the wheel good hard terriers out there and Ireland is a hotbed for good terriers, this country is f*cked for anything serious so its the easy life for me and the reason this sort of dog is popular, every
  4. They are in good condition I'll give you that. How much does one of them sell for we don't see many in Ireland?
  5. I am not knocking the breed or what they can and can't do but why if you dislike Plummer did you help promote his life's work and cement his legacy built on lies and tall tales and glorify the man when there was other breeds you could of helped promote that were good all rounders without been over hard and show too many signs of work and draw attention when out for a walk in public with them. I'm not knocking you or the dogs I'm sure they work exactly as you want them but why help Plummer (the man)out? I will cover that in my thread ,WMok fairplay
  6. There was a case in Wicklow last sept of docked Russell pups and dewclaws removed with no Certs for sale on DoneDeal that were reported to ISPCA and the court made them pay 625 to ispca plus 625 to state costs. So yes it would be better to pay 50 to vet than 1250 in fines.

  8. So you just breed for £££ then ?3 litters a year for last 5 years, Ching Ching. He ain't trying to better the Plummer terrier. He only wants to line his pockets. That's the sad reality of puppy farms. 15 litters in 36 months, that's an average(ish) litter every 8 or 9 weeks, he's a canine factory. That's some god damn awful maths ?I did say "ish", 36 months(4 weeks in a month) =144 weeks divided by 15 litters is exactly 9.6 weeks, so wasn't far off.there is more than 4 weeks in most months so there is 156 weeks in 3 years (36 months) A litter every 10.4 weeks when there's 52 weeks in a year mu
  9. Would make a nice pheasant pen if wrapped in chicken wire or netting

    Brickies

If a bricky is having a conversation and he farts and the conversation is over before the fart ends then he is a good one.?. A builder told me once if you are able to make a cup of tea well then you are able to lay bricks.
  12. Whatever you do don't throw away the wrong end of tail or you will be left with the tips after throwing away the pups with the stubs.??? only an anti would start a thread like that so go get some veterinary advice.

  14. A blunt spoon it will test the dogs gamness early. Cull them if they whimper ?
  15. It's a bit of a tricky one because the law gives the vets a choice that if in their opinion a dog is at greater risk of injury from having a long tail than a short tail then they can legally dock it for working breeds but if in the vets opinion it is unnecessary to dock the tails because they don't see the dog been at risk of injury then they are also within the law. The key is to get a vet that does realise the risk of injury and will happily dock rather than trying to harass the ones that don't.
  16. If people have a hang up about size then look at a big foxhound and guess what? they hunt foxes from cover!
  17. I've seen spaniels, failed earth dogs, housing estate dogs and even labradors making excellent bushing dogs they are not that hard to get if they smash cover and have a good nose and preferably bark then there isn't much to it and doesn't have to be a specialised breed. If you think getting a good bushing dog has a high fail rate then try getting a good earth dog from scatter breeds.
  18. If I seen 400 people drowning in front of me fcuk them I'm not even getting my toes wet after watching the last 100 drown trying to save them ha ha.???
  19. Maybe that's what it is, sounds like they panic, and as more panic, more Whales come to their aid, and the whole pod become stranded. why don't they just put a rope around there tails then tow em back out.because you would f***ing drowned them gb lol.atb dc winch them up,sail out and drop em then.they just seem to put wet towels on em.lets see some more direct action going on. A boat or ship big enough to winch up a whale won't be able to sail up onto a shallow beach id imagine and what's the point if they swim back ashore. People say they are nearly at the same intelligence level as humans
  20. My family and friends never colonised another country Mick? Good for you but if these countries weren't invaded by USA and Britain to a lesser extent then there wouldn't be an invasion of refugees. There obviously wasn't much learned from the gulf war when they thought invading Syria would overturn a regime and improve it now look at the shit heap its in and it's no wonder young middle eastern boys grow up a little bit bitter and turn into radicals when their countries were destroyed to supply the west with oil. You don't see to many countries under bad regimes been invaded that don't have any
  21. Britain colonised half the world and changed hundreds of cultures it is a bit hypocritical when another culture comes to Britain and there is uproar. Karma is a bitch so go buy some chilli sauce and get used to eating kebabs because they are going to get even more popular.?
  22. If he/she comes back on under the user name Pauline then the operation was success.?
  23. Well done Scotland from a disgruntled paddy.
  24. I think the key is to strike a balance and good exercise as in biking ,running, walking and even swimming etc can only benifit a dogs body and mind and then work will complete there level of fitness and stamina to the required level. I think most people would agree that running them to the point of exhaustion would be counter productive. It depends on the situation would running a dog for 45 mins behind a quad on a hunt day on the way to check earths wear him out before he is sent down to work for 2 hours. Equally a dog left cramped up in a kennel for 2 weeks before a dig will be detrimental a
  25. seen hundreds but would prefer not to see them. I had one stuffed it was roadkill. Lots of people mistake them for mink but the mustard coloured throats and pointy ears is a give away and they are double the size of a mink and you could see one dead on road at least once a week.
