A couple more WIP pics of the drop point. A bit slower progress than hoped for as the speed controller on my belt grinder blew up..a new one ordered but in the meantime all hand work to get the final shape/finish.
Final shape & heat treatment/temper below.
No vid's.....took me all my time to sus out how to post pics
As for teaching others.....I taught my lad what i know about making knives....now he is teaching me.
Always happy to share info... but as for something official...too much red tape now a days to let the public loose on machines like mine with most guards and safety features non existent.

Thanks David, just doing what i like to do, glad others enjoy the thread....as for genius...it's a fine line between that and madness....in fact I would say an invisible line in my case!

Three hours. Thats all rough grind though it is the finishing & detail that takes the time.
If using new stock it would be faster, but not the same satisfaction as taking something that is scrap and turning it into something of value.

Started this commission for a drop point hunter today....a few WIP pics for you.
Landy spring, paper design and hard-board template.
Rough grind up with angle grinder to get rid of rust/ pits.

Yes can do. I don't have any more no9's in stock but will get one. A no 9 wold be £70 posted if that is alright. I have another hunter on commision to make first http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/368012-hand-made-do-it-all-fixed-5-blade-hunterskinner/
so can't do it straight away.
Regards Griff
Yes not another like it! I like to do something different each time, if i run out of ideas i might do another one with a coin but they will always be different as i design it around the shape of the piece of antler i am working with.
Regards
Griff
Cost me a hundred quid but there are 20 antlers so not bad looking at it that way. Sell a couple of Opinels and it will pay for itself.
Bit quiet on here lads & lasses.......nobody made anything or got any banter?
Cheers
Griff
Thanks Joe. Digital camera is great, take loads of pics, pick out a handful of the best and dump the rest. Sun shine helps a lot too. Low sun, morning or evening seems to work best for knife pics.

Cheers David, I just have an idea and kind of make it up as i go along, keep working on it until it looks right and fees right in the hand. This one turned out pretty good if i do say so myself.
