  1. If the dog drew the quarry fully, YES changed everytime. Some dogs were lifted after a few seconds for a variety of different reasons. Thats why it was all very sporting and fair in all aspects from start to finish.
  2. There's plenty not too far from there though.
  3. Just be that extra bit carefull with it for a while. I had one done a while back and it was like that but wasn't long wearing down.
  4. When the deben knocker boxes were the in thing a bar always came in handy, no matter how well you taped the collar up made sure the batterys were fresh. I seen enough dogs before dropped and "click click oh yes go on ahead" dog in and on not a click about. Very temperamental at times. That's when you lay down got a mark on the dog by ear, the bar was then just to ensure you had the tube and you were going down accordingly.
  5. Well done u seem over the moon. I remember getting my first dog a first cross collie greyhound I hid it in the back sheds because my parents wouldn't let me have dogs, I was only 11. First night I thought everything was sweet until he started howling the place out, I was well caught out but they seen the funny side of it. Then four years later I had the sheds all turned into pens and I had 16 dogs at one stage. Once you get your first home that'll be the start of it mate. All the best pal
  6. Alot of lads we would drop in for a days hunting with dont have them in there kit, we always have one along with other tools that are not always used on every dig, if you read the thread from the beginning you'll see many different accounts and situations were a tbar can be used to your advantage. Just because you choose not to use one doesnt mean your any better or experienced than the next terrierman. Each to there own, though if people choose to vary on there hunting kit don't kid yourself in thinking they havnt a clue what they're doing.
  7. Just keep it for yourself and put it away. work your dogs and enjoy every minute doing so. For all it's worth.
  8. The prick said the kids were running around and they adjitated the dog !! Wtf.
  9. Sounds good mate, better than having a yard full and all in sick bay.
  10. Enjoyed reading your post, I've a bitch broke in the yard at the minute and by all means, she's far from her normal self. Bit like my wife when she's on her monthlys lol. Atb
  11. What area in general was this mate ?
  12. I dig a few sandy places but they're obviously not as bad as some that have been mentioned, because we've never ran into complications so far
  13. They work used one for years when I was bricklaying
  14. One like this ripstop. http://www.google.co.uk/m/search?site=images&source=mog&hl=en&gl=uk&client=safari&q=exca%20quik%20bars&sa=N#i=1 Only ever used one once, as said before and I agree a good grafter would be every bit as good if not better. Atb
  15. Yeah they are handy for tying dogs up too. Not at all heavy and can be used on most types off ground not just soft. Ripstop as for weight thats not an issue, unnecessary excessive force could result in harming the dog, if you know the depth indicated by the box your hardly going to be bouncing on it when you know you've only a few inches to go. Only a fool would do such a thing. I Wouldn't leave the house without one myself personnally, not that I always bar in on every dig but for deeper digs they do help you find the tube. Bars were used well before locators so you can't really knock them.
  16. Yeah stainless is best a bit dearer but def alot stronger and as said doesn't bend.
  17. I find 18mm stainless steels the best. I've had the same 1 for the last 5 seasons it hasnt bent yet hard to beat.
  18. Fcuking class I love watching shit like that.
  19. This topic was brought up before and certain individuals thought it wasn't a very nice thing to do and that by doing so were not showing respect to the terrier. It caused a bit off a stirr but then again this is THL, doesn't take much to do that on here. Atb
  20. Jesus don't start all this again ffs. : ))
