Not a busher but brought in to work with the team of terriers out bushing. Flipping from pro Sleeper to mad crocodile currently but hopefully mature Ito a useful addition.

One dog pup left from a litter I have had a pup off brindle dog nice little thing. Mum whippet with touch of collie dad non ped whippet should make about 21tts let me know if you want more details cheers
-
Last one, not sure he has inherited the collie intelligence by the looks of his efforts to sleep in his bed
-
Looks bigger than he is to be honest bit of a wafer at the minute. Might call him whiny if he carries on, seems to go from tormenting the terrier to whining to flat out asleep so far. Alf is his current name but they generally get changed by the step kids or mrs at some point atb

Haven't been able to get the young SLT birch out much of late as she had a really bad phantom that developed some complications and ended up with 3 days at the vets and what's looking like being spayed. Anyone work any spayed bitches it isn't something I normally do. Have got an old pet bitch that was spayed late on due to a womb infection an it doesn't appear to have changed her (if anything she's done better since). Just after people's experiences. I don't really have much choice as it seems the only sensible option health wise for her. The vet is a family friend and I trust his judgeme

The simple answer to that one is NO, he was never going to match up to my old bitch I still have here, this is the problem once you,ve only ever kept fast running dogs, SID had thrown to the grandma which was saluki based and very one paced, my bitch is over 6 now but has blistering pace and stamina to spare, never carries a knock and has not had a day in sick bay in all that time even being worked everyday and on all kinds of both quarry and terrain,I am going to breed a litter out of her and my son along with a few of my near friends will get a pup, never seen her beat by anything, my only prob

Decided this summer was the time to finally get my own running dog after spending the last year bringing on my terrier pup to work alongside me and my old man work mainly at my uncles farm. My dad's dog is getting on a bit and lost a toe recently and having to rely on always borrowing a runne isn't ideal. So after alot of thought (I have 2 other dogs beside the terrier) I have chosen a little whippet x dog pup from a litter locally. mainly whippet but I few other bits an bobs added into the mix hopefully to make it a bit more durable for the land I run. Will get some better pics up tommor

Always used a hacksaw blade on short haired dogs brings out the dead hair nicely atb

If you have got dogs then it's worth knowing a good vet imo. I travel a fair few miles to see my particular vet as my family have used him for years and he works his dogs, so has some understanding about injuries that might occur. I wouldn't just go to any vet as no doubt there are some money makers out there. Seen the supervet and he does some amazing things, a lot of the ones I have seen if it were my dog it would be put down personally as the rehab must be torture for the dog. But if someone wants to pay a a packet for surgery for their dog then that's their choice, maybe one day advances i

Just after advice really. Young bitch had her first season about 6weeks ago and is seemingly having a false pregnancy (nesting, guarding toys, lack of appetite etc) no aggression towards humans but clearly isn't happy with the other dos an is content to just sleep and isn't to found of the other sleeping next to her. This is totally out of character as she is soft as usually and never shown any form of aggression before ( generally very submissive to be fair). Had bitches before but never had this false pregnancy thing, anyone else had experience of it. Sure it will pass but it ain't great wat

You're absolutely right - she's everything I could possibly have wanted. Already a great busher and shows real promise as a ferreter - fantastic nose on her and she gives really good solid marks when I'm out with the ferrets. She caught two more rabbits today, both healthy for a change. One adult and one baby. I took a bit of video footage of the walk - will have a look at it later and if it's any good I'll stick it up here.... When your'e out bushing does your terrier work through most of the cover regardless or just cover that holds scent or game ect, mine used too when she was younger

Am i not right in thinking alot of pedigree dogs if you trace them back generations are breed from very few dogs to start with, which were all related. For example, I know having a Bouvier that all these dogs can be traced back to one single stud dog and a few bitches as they were nearly wiped out after WW1, surely then these dogs are technicallly line breed as all dogs left were closely related or am i missing something. I am not an expert in this at all, just curious really, as it does seem a bit of a tricky question. I do know many pedigree dogs have been ruined by in breeding and it does s

Think that's the point Blackdog, your has seen enough work and exercise etc so its coming along nicely. The brother hasn't and isn't keen probably because he hasn't been out enough. One dog is energetic ( hasn't seen enough work) the other is chilled (gets out and works) dont think working dogs being chilled out is any concidence it is the graft that settles them. All well and good holding a dog back and not ruining it, but I personally think they need to out young at least mooching about, getting used to scent, learning to avoid obstacles etc. Got a lot of making it and learning to do if not

Without more info on the dog then it is difficult to say, but if their isnt an underlying reason why is wasnt chasing, such as ones that have been mentioned. Then i would personally be a bit concerned about a lurcher not showing an interest but thats just me. I have never seen one that would not want to chase in that situation, but other people seem to have so you have a chance. On a seperate note i wouldnt be letting a dog near my ferrets at that stage if you dont know alot about it. Best of luck with it cheers

Looks very well built, genuine question but where is the benefit for a working terrier as apposed to sufficient exercise on walks etc. I would have thought they would be okay for building cv fitness but not going to be as effective as out and about as the gait/ movement patterns are so ltd to going forward ie no twisting and turning atb

Breeding Plans For This Year.

Not if he knows the breeding of the mongrel well enough. Think your plans are fair enough breeding for the right reasons in my eyes atb -
