  1. The more dogs the merrier when bushing from my experience not an easy game unless the land is teeming with rabbits. Nice mix there lee atb
  2. Iwork, put a thread up a while back about my old man wanting a pup out of his dog bed x grey type 23tts, this dog is coming upto 8 and still going well and breed down from my old mans line of lurchers, has been proven and never takes a backward step. I would say having seen your posts for a while on here and seemingly the work that you do with your dog, i would have a pup out of this breeding all being well, as would my old man so theirs 3 got homes straight away if you were keeping one back. I think your not that far from where this dog is if i remember rightly, so if your interested let me k
  3. He isn't into the internet etc and not really for me to name dogs when he keeps himself I himself, he has a line which includes the usual grey saluki and Wheaton added to improve the coat added some gun dog blood further back (without real results) from what I remember. He isn't in the game for matches etc but has had a lot of joy when he has entered dogs. Sure folk will no the dog if they are into the fens atb
  4. My uncle owns a fairly well known forley cup winner and there is a lot more than greyhound and saluki in the mix that's for sure atb
  5. Got the same problem when I am out on my own, as I am stuck with a couple of pet dogs and 1 worker and can't really add more at the minute. I get out regular with my old mans dogs and add the brothers borders to the team. Much more success with 3 terriers even in the smaller sections of cover atb.
  6. Those photos are a couple of years ago now but looks much the same and still working well but beginning to creek. He is primarily a bunny dog but has regularly taken other legal game cheers
  7. Tank ideally yes we would but their isn't really a suitable bitch available. My dad hasn't bred a lurcher since the 80s, we got this dog off a lad who had a dog off my dad back in the 80s and kept the blood in his dogs if that makes senses I not really a line as such. His bitch is now 10+ and his other bitch is only 3 not really proven, so would prefer something more proven and of similar breeding atb
  8. Not first x saluki he is just a line bred bed x grey with a touch of whippet in the mix a few generations back cheers
  9. Cheers fellas he is a good honest dog who I feel has proven himself and it would be a shame to not get a pup off him, but time is ticking when they get to his age atb
  10. Surprising how some dogs look very fast (smaller types) with all the movement ad fast action but when worked alongside something bigger you soon realise that real pace come from stride length just my experience. Been out with bed x whips and bed x grey and although the whippet x look faster you soon realise who catches the bunnies more ad I am talking about short runs as well atb good topic
  11. Should have added the line of lurchers this dog is from can be traced back by my dad for about 30 years to his old track greyhound so he knows the breeding well. Unfortunately no suitable or known bitches locally to use hence the request atb
  12. If anyone is looking for a stud dog in he future and after a Beddie x grey type, my old man is looking to get a pup of his dog below. The dog is now coming upto 8 and caught consistently for several seasons. He is only looking to stud for a pup of this dog. Dog has his faults in honesty, coat isn't great (linty) but his commitment and catch rate is excellent. My old man has kept lurchers for 40 odd years and wouldn't breed the dog if he didn't rate it. Sure he would be happy to take whoever out I see the dog work. He is looking for a racey type bitch around the same size 23tts that has do
  13. Some good advice don't personally think you can mix earth work and bushing too successfully but that's just my experience others may correct me. I discourage anything other than marking at holes as digging is not for me. I wander on my own a lot often in areas I don't know that well and a dog dropping to ground would be a nightmare, unless on my uncles farm and even then digging is a dangerous game. As for training if the pup is breed right then I have found all the terrors we have had have entered cover naturally from a very early age, especially when brought in with a older dog. It's usually
  14. Think I have said it before but that is a lovely pup kps turning out a cracking looking dog atb
  15. Me thinks that dog looks alot like a border terrier. atb daywalker. is it a schnauzer x It's a pure schnauzer and is what they should look like without a daft hair cut. Obviously not a genuine worker but he is 7 now and tags along on hunts as he is keen as any of the terriers and yaps like a good in on the back of stuff which is handy as the terriers are generally mute. He has genuinely caught squirrel, rat, rabbit, pheasant, duck over the years and tackled bigger stuff with the lurcher and gone to ground once or twice. Don't get me wrong he is useless at entering cover, which is a shame as hi
  16. Me thinks that dog looks alot like a border terrier. atb daywalker. Probably be more useful if it was but he enjoys it atb
  17. Me thinks that dog looks alot like a border terrier. atb daywalker.
