I don't kennel my dogs but have dogs and bitches living together in the house and kept in the utility at night/ when at work. Never had any serious issues and have always found different sexes get on slightly better than same sex. I should say both the bitches I have are spayed, one dog is neutered and the other a youngster atb.

Morton would there not be a risk of arthritis in the pups early, as I thought it can be hereditary as is the case in many breeds atb

Once cooked 40 Yorkshire puddings for a Christmas party at the school I worked at, left them on the work surface to cool. When I returned later their was 4 and half left and an extremely full but happy bouvier in my kitchen. Strange because she hasn't ever bothered wth anything else on the work surfaces, to be fair they were good Yorkies though.

Whippet grew with a touch of collie atb as far back as i know atb

Cheers Phil will do my best with him, I have him out on his own as much as possible and in fairness in ain't half as confident on his own, but I have found that with all my dogs to be fair. Think I have a decent bond with him to date and it helps that he seems pretty chilled out and trainable. I always prefer a pup this time of year as I find it helps socialise them as the days are long and you can get out an about see more people etc more easily. He has whippet, grew and collie in the mix, just a small lurcher essentially with a lot of whippet blood atb

I will apologize in advance for the amount of photo's i put up of the pup as he grows, but the fact that i have waited so long for a running dog might help explain. I have spent most of the adult life in the armed forces and never really felt what with moving around alot and out of area stuff, it would be fair to have a working dog, so despite having grown up surrounded by lurchers, greyhounds and terriers of various guises i held back the urge and simply got a couple of pet dogs essentially, which are now in their oap phase of life but hanging on. I have enjoyed their company to be fair and t

He is mainly whippet with a touch of collie back in the breeding as far as I know, both parents around 21tts just a little lurcher essentially. Hopefully should be useful atb

Not a busher but bringing on to work with my little team, hopefully add more fun to the daily mooches and visit to the farm come next year atb

I am sure they would be useful pups if breed right, but I would agree with other comments that I would be looking for an out and out busher if you already have whippets to run the bolters. I personally like little terriers but they obviously have their drawbacks in terms of potentially going to ground, depends the ground you work I suppose. I work a lot of small wooded areas and tight hedgerows, so my tiny little SLT suits me fine, as she can get in some tight spots which hold rabbits. not saying small size is the b all and end all, but with all the will in the world, other larger dogs simple

Cracker atb -
Morton okay I see you point about what terriers were bred for but are you saying that digging dogs are better bushers or have more drive? What about the digging dog that doesn't bush well but switches on where it knows there is action? I have a young terrier on, she will drop in but thats not my game or her job as I see it, so I don't encourage it. Many of the places I work digging isn't an option so she suits my needs Atb

I dont know of any lucher owners who would be able to pick the best out of a hundred let alone one in a thousand. As to track proven, well one must consider it in context, a greyhound that is bred from the best of the best that completes a racing career during which it must be able to withstand pressure through it joints that would snap the wrists of a lesser athlete. To my mind this athlete is worth a little closer scrutiny. When cornering the bones/wrist joints sustain pressure of 500psi or 20,000 newtons per square cm, in simple terms the wrist and lower limb structures withstand up t

try measuring it with a stop watch Maybe they are similar size and like any working muscle that is trained right, they are biggest in the best trained/ worked dogs. As in the case in most athletes, yes they have the genetics but without the graft that means very little.
