  1. The trophy ban went through I see. Yet another loss to chalk up.
  2. This country needs more little videos like that whippets and pigeon. Inspire the kids
  3. Cracking little watch I thought
  4. The trophy hunting was getting a whopping on the news this morning too. There was a conservationist lady on there defending it but she stood no chance. Even though she new her stuff. Not some thing I would ever want to do but I understand why some would. Its all doom and gloom now a days. But we will just keep on a going

    Hobbies

Start on the bass soon. Hopefully get my first kill with the catty. Training the pup. I hate the heat but it is nice to get a bit of warmth after winter. Bit of pigeon shooting too on the stubbles
  6. Great that mate. Fine dog too. When I started ferreting as a kid I never new about marking dogs. I got a terrier pup and didnt have a clue how it was going to work. Ferret grabbed him by snout when he was pup so that was him ferret broken lol. I took him in my pocket or a bag because he was too young and could only waddle few yards. Kept ferreting empty holes as per norm then one day ferret was gone a while and I saw the pup cock his head. Next minute a rabbit exploded out bolt hole right by him and he went after it. That sowed the seed. I can't rememer his age but not long after he was chasin
  7. Yea his helpful fella and does some good dog training
  8. Yea got few tips off air gun group one guy can see rabbits at eighty yards and showed me a rat at 30 which looked fine. Apparently brightness and contrast are the key. But in hind site should not bothered lol. All ways same buy cheap buy twice I should learnt by now
  9. Your right Fred for me it’s the main thing. I can take or leave the rest of it. Most dogs will lamp to varying degrees but good day time hunting up and marking not so many.
  10. Christ I had forgot how much fun the bushing is. I miss the days of the old JR in cover. 9 out of ten of my ferreting spots rabbits are on top in cover and the lurcher will have to work hard. But I can only have one dog and a lurcher gives me few other options
  11. She started marking this weekend nice and stealthy made my day really flying along now. If she gets down wind of something goes into a sneak checking with me like a little team Likes the squirrels too and quiet as a mouse too even with squirrels bouncing around above her not a whimper I love being around her because apart from being a playful sod she makes it easy loves carrying stuff around so we keep that going to our advantage and I am In no rush to take stuff off her. So yea all good ?
  12. Came across this today. I like it https://www.youtube.com/@theslingden7463
  13. I picked one up last week and so far its asolutly pointless. Now I now its bottom of the range etc with 6mm lense. But it can't see a pheasant day time 25 yards, Duck 10 yards and tonight it couldnt see any of the rabbits sat 30 yards away. In fact the only thing it does see is my bloody dog Now I didn't expect to ID much in the dark but I was hoping it could just tell me there was some thing there. In this video the guy can see a heat source on rabbits over 200 yards. I would be happy at a 100 . Wonder if there is some magical setting or maybe I should take the lense cap off. I know its onl
  14. Cheers Smithie very kind but I will see whats about next month
  15. I will picky up a copy thank you
  16. That is very true. Had some right disasters with the old dog plus him being trigger happy made stock tricky. A rustle in a hedge or some thing going over the brow. Bang he was on the way. The new pup is up and at them if it moving but if she comes in downwind of some thing goes into that collie slink which I do like. Though early days with her next season will be interesting. But the signs are very good so far
  17. In the day a chrash bang wallop type of dog that in a split second will hit a hedge hard cover or what ever and give it a 110% on the strike helps. Every split second counts any delay its gone
  18. Interesting in the basc mag regarding Scotland. You can use any breed of dog rough shooting to flush and retrieve. But the dog is simply not allowed to kill the rabbit. Most Lurchers don’t kill there quarry
  19. It’s ground dependable around here in my area a dog catching a rabbit in day time is rare thing . Simply because there never out of cover long enough. On the other hand if it was legal you might get a decent run on a hare
  20. Looks interesting is it factual or bit of fairy tale
  21. There is some charging points down the road and you see people sat there having a cup of coffee or reading a paper while they charge up. What a load of cobblers. Surely you dont need to be einstien to see they could never work. My dog could tell you there pointless
  22. The hunt has a point though the countryside is getting populated left right and centre. From new houses to carvans and tents in any bit of rought ground getting bought up. You can't swing a cat let alone run a pack of hounds across the country
