  1. I have ended up putting power pro braid on the lure reel, i said i wouldn't i know, but i have to try it, still not sure on the mono, thank's for reply's lad's.
  2. What do you have coming off your flyline, is it a braided loop, then 30lb of mono, then do you use wire that you make deadbait trace's with, or some other wire, i have seen something like a stiff piece of wire with i think loop's both end's coming of the mono, then an attatchment for the fly, is this right, and do you think it would better to start with a sinking line then, is this right, just that i do want to give it ago, but would try to sort it with some of the fly gear i have first, instead of buying it straight away.
  3. You need a lot of research mate, read some post's that have already been up, read as much as you can and try and get out with someone who can show you the ropes, go in a tackle shop have a hold of a few rod's, when you learn a bit more, you will know what feel's right, it's not to hard to learn the basic's and then you will probably love it, good luck.
  4. Esthwaite is a great trout water, never fished it for pike, would love to pike fish it, been some good pike out of it, some great trout also.
  5. Just had a look at esox world 5, great interview with eddie turner in it, worth a look, just type esox world, and there are 5 free online magazine's, i have been on them since they started, i thought a lot of people where onto it, but this month it give's the figure of people onto it and it is only 3000, which i would of thought at least double or even more, have a look.
  6. Thank's u.l.d.a., i didn't no how to put the link up, so they are ok then, i've been thinking of trying them, cheer's.
  7. Depend's what your budget is but have a look at barrio fly line's, they look ok, if you want something really good there's the main one's orvis, but alot depend's on what it's for, have a look on a few flyfishing forum's, you will get a better idea, good luck.
  8. I would alway's follow a warm wind, if it's coming from the east, i go home, not many fish like them cold wind's.(myself included)
  9. I'm still on the lure's, but i have tied a few pike fly's up and used them as a lure, and when i catch on them, i alway's think, that would of been great on a fly rod, one day i will have ago.
  10. Never done any sea fishing, but that place look's great, i have heard that you can use your pike fishing gear for bass, similar size lure's and rod and reel similar, i would fancy it with lure's.
  11. I am putting new mono on 3 of my reel's, 1 is for lure fishing and 2 are for pike/carp fishing, i usually use fox soft steel, but i am not 100% happy with it, what do you use and why.
  12. Must say a five turn grinner every time, never had a problem with it, i use it with mono and also when using braid as a hooklink, sometime's when needed i have used the loop knot, i go twice through.
  13. It look's very good, i have used it for hooklink's in carp fishing, but a lot of carp angler's are using it as a mainline as it is heavy and sink's onto the contour's of the lakebed, when slack line fishing, also used it when flyfishing, i think it is getting popular.

  17. Liverpool won't win the prem yet, CITY will AGAIN.
  18. That's some size barbel that mate, must of give some fight, or do you find that a smaller fish give's a better fight,i have had better fight's from say 2lb-3lb trout than a 6lb trout, is it like that from barbel, i don't mean the length of the fight, i mean the actual pulling and twisting and run's from the fish, sometime's i find they can just use there weight against you and not so many run's, or is it the best fight from a fish ever.
  19. That is something i have meant to try and never have, seen it done on the telly, i think for tiger fish, but alway's wondered if it would work over here.
