    When I was on the doors, they'd arrive in minutes if things got serious. Couldn't fault them then.

    Quite frankly, as a copper, what would you do when dealing with a house burglary that gets reported after it has happened? Calling the plod to let them know your house has been burgled is getting them to shut the barn door after the horse has bolted.

    Thanks mate - I was thinking rice might be best. I couldn't help but feel sand would be just too dense. Good tip about the plastic bag to hold the rice. That would have caught me out! Gooey bag = messy car!

    I don't get women. In the hot weather, they wear really skimpy clothing with low cut tops etc, and then they go all po-faced and upset if you touch them!

    Hi folks, I'm looking for the right medium for ballast in a shooting bag rest as I've got one oredered and I'm not sure what to use. Sand, grain, rice ? What do people find as a good medium? It will be mostly used on the car window if that makes any difference. Thanks guys, Duncan

    Other than thru dealing with my FEO and my parents getting their house broken into about 20 years ago, I've had no dealings with the police. A cynical man would assume that the purpose of the OP is to whinge about his shoddy treatment at the hands of our modern day Bow Street runners, justified or otherwise. My local firearms dept seems pretty efficient, although the FEO I have is short of rifle knowledge and the laws regarding different calibres- par for the course I guess.

    Having shouldered and played with a few .243's, I've settled on a Sauer 202 Elegance. Pricey, but not as pricey as some. I didn't feel the Blaser was worth the extra thousands and the Sauer just oozes quality. Anyone got one? If so, what do you think of it? Cheers Duncan. PS - now just got to wait for the variation to hit the mat!
