  1. Mines got the Jaeger (hunter) stock. Did like the target stock, but love the J. Beautiful Walnut grain on mine, chose it from a selection of 5 - took an hour! Its got the 14 inch barrel too - great from a vehicle. Cheers D.
  2. sounds nice, but my eyebrows went up when I got to the large bottle of tomato sauce. Do you mean passata? Sorry - re-read! passata or jar of tomato pasta sauce, like a ragout.Should lay off the glenmorangie before posting lol!
  3. For my 100 I've got a harris 9-13 non-tilting notched version and I can't fault it. To be fair though, I pretty much never use it on my air rifle, it gets more use on the .17hmr (also a Weihrauch). For airgun ranges I just don't feel I really need it tbh.
  4. Headshots gets my vote, but would agree with MArksman regarding between the shoulderblades if they have their back to you - hard to do when they're 30+ ft up though.
  5. 6X for general mooching about (kneeling, standing) and 10-12 X for static sniping at longer ranges. Zeroed at 37 yards in .177. PS Having re-read the OP, I'd be using 10 X at 40 yards and expect to get a ragged one-hole group from a sitting position if I'm on form and conditions are favourable.
  6. Not really, they come with everything else needed- maybe a decent scope? As regards accuracy, I've put 3 shots thru the same hole at 45 yards, yes 45 yards from an FT sitting position. I've put a lot of lead thru this rifle in 5 years and never intend to change it :-) 110 shots with no power curve too and a faultless autoload system, hard not to love it !!
  7. Happily, it's part of the relocation package. So are the necessary jabs:) Looks like there's a bit of delay at the visa end. Useful really; more uninterrupted time to train the newcomers.
  8. Hi bigbarnet, there is also an experienced guy I ask advice from in THL. Unwind embarrass him by dropping his name. Any other good dogmen near north bucks (Newport Pagnell) wouldn't go amiss though :-)
  9. I ordered the Frank sheardown book for a start. Thanks for the help guys. :-) Duncan.
  10. Hi folks, I've been wanting to hunt rabbits with dogs for a while and finally took the plunge and bought a dog from good working lines (from The Rock). I've been reading and gaining as much info from here as possible but would really like a good book as a 'how to' guide as well. Are there any reliable an respected books anyone would recommend? Really want to get everything right. Many thanks Duncan.
  11. Must be as proud as punch mate! Great encouragement
  12. The only 'bad staffs' I've met either were owned by kids trying to look tough or people who never exercised them. Garden exercise isn't walking them. Had a friend once who had a staff and he almost never took it out and let it do almost whatever it wanted. Man it was fat n grumpy! Then they wondered why!?
  13. I bought a pup from Gav today- healthy, strong and full of beans. First few hours and she already comes when I call her:-) Stunning dog, very, very pleased! Thanks very much Gav. Duncan.
  14. Whereabouts are you mate and is the bottom one still available?
  15. A new pack member to train :)

  16. A new pack member to train ... Goodie! :)

  17. Adorable pictures mate - especially like the pic of the doe barking. You must be so chuffed!
  18. Not really, but a land manager local to me told me that he'd been granted his fac variation for .270 cal despite a conviction for wife beating (he hadn't!). Apparently a chap of the same name and date of birth (but different birth place, address etc etc) had been convicted and the force had confused the two. So chaps...its ok to beat your wife if you are asking for variations is the moral to this story
