  1. Bird dog, the essential bit you are missing is producing a working dog for your own use! Now like I have said before good ol Mr Hancock is not producing dogs with this in mind in the slightest. So how about giving it a rest before it turns into one of those threads hey?
  2. Bitchs can have phantoms or pseudo pregnancies at any time as skycat says to varying degrees. Every bitch is different and its often a reoccurring problem.
  3. Ever since this site was created and the other hunting forums before it, you would get coursing threads with bitching about the best dog lol avoiding those threads has been part of the experience lol
  4. Yes Raspberry Leaf Tablets are a licensed veterinery treatment to prevent pseudo or phantom pregnancies and are commonly used. However they are no use given at this late stage as the OP dog is producing milk, they should be administered from the first sign of the season and then for 12 weeks.
  5. Without turning this into a hancock thread. We are talking breeding from dogs which are tested or at least worked to a standard the breeder wants, more than likely excluding the the F1 parents that'll be under...........'guys are breeding his dogs together and producing dogs that both look and act like lurchers', there are guys that work his dogs The thread is about people breeding with a type in mind and doing it from scratch.. Sourcing the correct ingredients and breeding by sorting the wheat from the chaff until the correct outcome is hopefully attained or not. I doubt 'Mr H

  7. So not many people have really grasped the nettle and bred themselves from scratch with a type of dog in mind short of a F1?
  8. Thanks for your input Bossie, firstly I am not thinking of creating a new breed or particularly thinking of even breeding. Its just a hypothetical question and discussion. I say 4 breeds but in reality it would be 3 breeds with the use of 2 dogs of the same breed I should think. I am aware its a challenge and commitment in time and money, that's why I was asking to see if many members have seriously gone for it and what there thoughts were and did they get the outcome they wanted?
  9. If the salts have given the dog the sh*ts bad then stop its not going to help. The bitch has had a phantom and once its gone as far as milk production, you often have to let it run its course and just be aware of mastitis. There are several products to help dry a bitch up available on prescription which can be worth a try. You may want to consider using something to prevent the psuedo or phantom pregnancy next time, unless you have her spayed as its often a reoccurring problem.
  10. Are there many people who have seriously done it, say to create a dog with four breeds? I can only assume its a big commitment and a high % of failure. Say, Source a decent pure bred, cross it to another pure bred, keep the progeny, raise it, work it test it over several seasons and if it comes up to scratch then breed it to maybe a F1 which has also come up to scratch? I should think after all the planning, research, and finally breeding the dog only to realise it falls short of the bench mark, must be soul destroying however the chances of achieving to breed a dog of the type you set out
  11. Use something that is licensed to treat Arthritis, there are a few herbal products to do this available over the counter. I am afraid many supplements can help joint problems but medicines are needed to actually treat a condition such as Arthritis.
  12. To me a real Lurcher is a versatile dog, should give it all a go not just lamping. To my dog every walk is a trip out hunting so you can't fail to do all sorts of hunting.
  13. God forbid a coursing section and i told you to mention my sex change Sorry I didn't want to, thought the name change was enough, but fair play lol
  14. I cant see the point as Paula says its all rabbits and rats anyhow. Where do you draw the line? Bullx section, fox dog section (Pre ban) etc.. ?
  15. First of all 'theman' where did I write "this dog caught all these rabbits"? That's right I didn't lol Actually it caught those rabbits before tea break and proceeded to catch the same again later in the morning. Of course it fecking didn't its a PUPPY in its first season who's been ferreting lol nothing more. I ferreted these too just waited till it got dark to take the picture before I put them back in the freezer for the next photoshoot lol
  16. Autumn will soon be upon us :-) I for one cant wait!

  18. I am looking at these. Look pretty decent, will insulate and add heat lamps to each box.
  19. Manuka is fantastic seen brilliant results in wound care in horses and dogs.
  20. No problem just add it into the mix, I like to vary things so would not feed solely one food stuff for too long. Fish is great stuff, I feed mackerel, sprats what ever I can catch or get my hands on, freeze it down and feed at your convenience.
  21. Shame I would of given you a 100 for it..
