Pheasant were worth decent money a brace about 40 years ago, times have changed since then.

The linner ferret, in the days before the knocker boxes. My old man used to use them if the gills had killed in. Pop them in the Warren they would shift the gills off there kill you would then dig and follow the line to the hob on the end and the kill. Ideal in shallow Warren's.

The bitch we had was a supburb all-round old school poachers lurcher, she was fully at home in the pheasant pen during those full moons, she would retrieve ducks off the water and could catch a hare rabbit and deer aswell as any dog in her day. I know there mixes of lurcher that can do the same. There was no stalking issues that you have with some collie crosses. Others may have different experiences but I can only speak as I find. Having said that I was only a young lad and the bitch new more than me. Out with the lr9 and a motorbike battery in a wooden box with seat belt for a strap. A

Thats the only photo of her i have, I used to take her lamping, ferreting mooching as a young lad. She knew more than me and was a great bitch to make a keen young lad stay keen. Yep that's me with me hand around her. The good old days lol

There was around me when I was growing up. Had to have her legs pinned due to breaking them at a young age. She was a top class bitch in fur and feather. They nicknamed her the exocet as she was fast, also she was good at getting upto and turning stags during the rut. She loved catching them by all accounts.

I know next to feck all about coursing dogs. Your 30 unbeaten with local lads would be alot different to 30 unbeaten when coursing was legal and the matches were arranged and run imo

Think she won something like 33 matches and draw 2. Don't quote me on that as I aint a 100% sure. She was one of the best I believe with the record to prove it. Was buddy out of her?

Middle toe removel shouldn't cause any issues. Sometimes older dogs are not the same when there outer toes are removed.
