    i decided that today was going to be the day i took my kits out and my 7 month old pup and have a steady walk about for a few hours. i also took buster with me as i needed a experienced dog for a sure fire mark so as not to be entering the ferrets into empty warrens. i got my destination and as i was putting my boots on i realized i had left my spade at home so i loaded the dogs straight back into the car and had a trip back home to fetch the spade so that was a hour out of the day lol. i soon got back to my destination and just let buster do his thing and followed behind watching the pup

    good old walking. its good for both man and dog. having said that i prefer to lamp on foot find it much more enjoyable.

    i remember one after noon we were in a small group and we had one lad with us that always had the piss took out of him anyway one of the other lads in the group lit a air bomb and pointed at the lad who always had the piss toook out of him and he started running away flat out but didnt get out of range and the firework went off and it ended up burning a hole through his ass pocket of his jeans and burnt his ass. he had problems with ass for a couple of weeks kept moaning his boxer shorts would stick to the burn.

    i havent really got any memories of making fires but ive got one or two memories of daft shit i got upto with fireworks thinking back it was bloody dangerous but you dont give a shit when you are younger. i use to light rockets hold them in my hand by the end of the stick once i could feel them starting to pull i would release them and away they would go never batted a eye lid about it, done loads of mad shit. last night i was in the garden lighting some fireworks for the kids and trying to be a clever dick i thought i would let 2 rockets of at the same time so i lite one fuse and before i co

    i agree with most of what you say. there may well be lads on here that have worked dogs longer than some members have been alive but it dont mean they have been doing right for all those years mate. that bit bugs me about folk some time.

    thanks mate. your pups looking good postie looks to have taken to the the ferreting game well. whats he like for speed? my pup is no slow coach.

    the difference is i am running any old rabbit with buster mate. its fine selecting for the pup hes having the easyiest rabbits i can find him and i try and put everything in his favour. it would have been a better score if i had just run buster but the pup needs to gain experience.

    decided to venture out again after a good night out with the pup lastnight, this time i took buster out for a couple of runs aswell i went to 3 spots and only seen a handfull of super shy rabbits so didnt really get a run. on my way back i just happened to look at a field ive been keeping a eye on that has recently been seeded and has just started to chit. as luck would have it there was a couple of rabbits sat out nice and quiet so buster had the first one and the pup had the second. the pup had a couple more slips in that field but didnt do any good. with that i decided to just walk a coup

    hes made a big lump of a dog for you mate. ben is doing well enough i havent spent the time on him just lately that i would like to for one reason and another but its keeping him super keen, if i aint carefull the fecker will be through the window screen before long trying to get to rabbits that cross the road in front of the car lol. going to start him on a little ferreting in the next couple of weeks i know his nose works well. depending on how big he is now i dont think he will go any bigger than 27tts

    cheers. i havent measured him for a while mate as the kids have had my tape measure and i cant bloody find it lol. looking at him up against my old dog hes around 25 and a half to 26tts with a tiny bit of knuckle left. hes enjoying his lamping trips out thats for sure.how bigs cryuff

    i havent lamped any rabbits for a while with my pup so i decided to go out tonight and give him a few runs just to see how he has remembered his other little trips out. first rabbit of the night i put the lamp on he saw and was off down the beam like a rocket it wouldnt have been my choice of rabbit for him but as he had allready seen it and was on his way i thought i may as well run it as the field wasnt all that big. anyway after a reasonable long course the rabbit finally made it into some thick bramble cover on the side of the bank but the pup pushed in and caught it,so rabit number 1

    fook me thats a bit of bad luck that. just as you got her going so well. bet you must be gutted thats the second dog youve had run over in about the last 12 months.

    nice one lads its nice to see a young apprentice coming up. although the game is quietly getting harder theres nowt better than learning the boy to be out there with dog and ferrets and the weather on his back.

    cheers. i am happy with him over all, ive got to get him out ferreting as soon has we get a nice cold snap and some of the cover has died down.
