I see what your saying, but instead of pulling the dog back, (which only makes it want to go forward) try a short, sharp tug to the side, backed up with the NO, the side ways pull is to unbalance the dog, and snap it out of what it's focused on) a choke type lead is the best for this., give it ago and see if it works mate. i'm not slating what you do, just giving some help.

I work on the basis that, if i was coming out of a centrally heated house, (and mine do, they all live in) i'd feel the cold, so i put a coat on, when i reach the place i want to run the dogs, the dogs get a ten minute run around, then the coats come off, because by then their normally panting and don't need them anymore, shit side of it is, i get to carry the buggers for the rest of the mooch mags the deerhound x doesn't wear one, unless it's road work on a very cold & wet day.   15. Never had one taken off myself but it seems to be a common thing these days, don't think it will affect your dogs running much once healed up properly.
