i got some lads i know out of the village a days detecting on a big farm up yorkshire i ferret on , next time i saw them i asked if they dropped farmer a bottle of whisky off or thanked him they said no , next time they asked i said farmer says you cant go back on , 2 years later my lad told me they found a bracelet & got £18.000 for it !!!!! Lucky gets!

done,done and done mate. I subscribed to the searcher yesterday but im yet to read a copy. There's a dedicated detectorist forum too which is full of all the info you could ever need. Can't wait to find a real bit of history. A medieval Henry VIII hammered coin is what I'm aiming for.

I wouldn't cut double 40s I doubt I could draw em. 30mm to 25mm double TBG will chuck em. Or you want some Linatex. Or the larger tubes. -
I don't think there is any legislation against owning, just no hunting as you said. Popular in the US.

You don't have to put anything on at all if you don't want.

Boiled linseed oil, Danish oil, tru oil, teak oil whatever you want mate for the finish you prefer. Some I put a poly coating on after oiling.

Haven't put as much on as usual so here's a few I'm on with. First is the Ally Scout I picked up off Flynndog today. It's brilliant but it's gonna take some finishing like. It's a perfect weight, you know you've got it in your hand but its not too heavy. Can't wait to get bands on it. Cheers Flynndog. Second one is a spalted Sycamore natural. I've been staring at it for a week and not started owt so today I went at it and started shaping it. This is about halfway done i reckon. After I've evened it out and smoothed it off I'm gonna get some wood stabiliser (hardener) into it in a vacuum,
