  8. Netting is by far the most effective in my opinion, one other method we swear by is fill a watering can up with water and bicarbonate soda, with a splash of washing up,the liquid makes the bi-carb stick to the leaves, the pigeon hate it,slugs won't touch it and caterpillars detest it,obviously re apply after heavy rain,I didn't beleive it would work but after a few years testing it does, failing that lady bug kills most things, Atb

  17. That's propper lousy mate,I lost a small permission once due to someone going on leaving empty cartridges everywhere, first I knew was when I phoned to say I was going, and was told not to bother,I got the blame and it was not me,I even pick empties up that arnt mine on all my shooting,I was as angry as him as I don't like being called a liar,I never contacted him again, few week later he stopped when he saw me walking to the shop and he had realised it wasn't me as it still was happening,he offered it back and all apollogies accepted, don't give up,but don't pester him,how long have u been shooti
  18. Go for it if you feel confident Geoff,im a engineer too and work to some delicate tolerances daily, but a few year back I messed with a trigger in a bolt action 410,lets say I have never touched a trigger since, unless its in kit form, something went bad maybe a file to many at the wrong angle im not sure but after,it slam fired and also shot if banged i couldn't see how i could resolve it so feeling a bit of a tit,i took it to be disposed of it was a liability,i decided then im not a good gunsmith candidate lol,i can repair ,modify ,make or design most things, obviously triggers not included, and
  19. I doubt losing his guns would bother him, intact I bet he will ever want to pick a gun up again after this,I imagine it will be a lifetime of what ifs.,sad times for all involved, accidents arnt personal,
  20. Get them in boot parsnips seem to take a while to germinate more than most seeds,I find so anyway, the weather has been sweltering my way today, got a dab on while out pigeon shooting, the tunnels are like a sauna,I set parsnips in toilet roll cardboard tubes, fill them with compost sow the seed and when the seedling is a inch or two high pop the roll and all in a hole made in the ground with the top of the roll 1/4 of an inch poking out soil then water in,the card degrades well before they are ready, just a tip, works a treat and there's no messing about trying to seperate and transplant many times
