  4. I use a red filter Wouldn't be without it.
  5. I like the look of that fella I've a soft spot for merles. Any info on the dog mate, breeding, height etc?
  6. I take the Greyhounds out with the push bike,a fast walking pace is better for them than running.
  7. With the wind picking up after tea I decided to nip out with Amy for a quick shine.I left the house at 7.30pm for the short journey to my permission, the fields I lamped tonight are all sheep pasture and have been grazed nearly bare and the rabbits certainly knew their way about them. Rabbit no1 was the easiest of the night as after a tight course it ran head first into a dyke. The next few rabbits were missed,to be fair to the bitch they were all long slips as they were on the move as soon as the beam was flicked on. The 2nd rabbit Amy caught was fully 50 yards away and only 2 or
  8. Well done socks and co the dogs are looking spot on.Thanks for sharing your day with us. Markbrick1 you are the only person that has put a negative reply on this thread which is just the norm for you, why? If you keep this sh1t up all you'll do is stop the genuine lads from starting threads like these.
  9. Not quite the same but, many years ago my bitch was onto a hare in the fields next to the river Nith. You'll can guess the rest After 2 or 3 minutes of the course the hare headed for the river jumped half way across then swam the rest.By the time the bitch got across it was long gone.
  10. Thanks for the pics mark. Look forward to seeing some more.

    info please

Do yourself a search of past threads on the subject of ex-racers,the subject has been done often enough. As usuall I'll give you my opinion, but first a question. 1-What for you is the attraction of ex-racers as working dogs? I can't see many advantages for having an ex-racer rather than a lurcher, the two that come to mind are, they are [mostly]free and they are aged to run[no waiting for them to age as you would if you bought a pup]. The best option is to buy yourself a well bred lurcher pup and train it up the way you want.If you get one some time soon it will be ready to start
  13. Does that mean it might die laughing Sorry Frank, couldn't resist it.
  14. Here in Dumfries there's barely half an inch,we seldom get much here. Great pics Scottishlass, the views are fantastic.
  15. Well done hedges a crackin' bag of rabbits there. The wee bitch is doin' brill.
  16. During the season my dog/dogs are fed almost exclusively on rabbit,I skin them and put them in the freezer for 3 weeks[it takes 21 days to kill all the parasites].They are taken out to defrost then fed raw. Cooking can make the bones brittle is time consumingand there's no benefit,so for me it's raw all the time.
  17. With the wind still blowing at 7pm I went back out with Amy and the lamp,we had a quick shine through 3 fields. There were a few rabbits about but as would be expected at this time of the season a lot of them have seen the beam before and took to their heels. Amy had some good runs and managed 5 rabbits for the freezer.
  18. I had two outings today with Amy,first we were out along with Jimmy and Amys brother Bob for a bit of ferreting. This was only Amys second time and Bobs first. It was a cold day to be standing on top of the buries with a camcorder in my hand waiting for a bolt. The rabbits weren't in the mood to leave their buries and the ferrets had to work hard to move them. We didn't bother with purse nets as we wanted the dogs to get all the action, over a time of an hour and a half they managed to force out 6 rabbits.None of the rabbits went far before they found another burie to get down and althoug
  19. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...hounds+lurchers Have a look at the thread above WH,there is a recipe on there. I haven't heard of sugar or table salt being used to make the solution, more likely to be glucose and lo-salt.
  20. fuk wasting a nice rabbit on the dogs thats for my pot Depends how many rabbits your catching. When I cook them for the table I only use the saddle and back legs, the front end goes to the dog. My bitch gets raw rabbit every night. As for giving a dog onions . I've never heard of a vet that prescribes onions for use as wormers.
  21. 1/2 Greyhound-7/16 Bull-1/16 Ridgeback. 50% ---------43.75%---6.25%--------- But as leegreen says,they are as near Bull/Grey as you'll get.
  22. Have a look at the thread below mate, plenty of merles there. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...=merle+lurchers
