Are collie crosses too clever for the average lurcherman??.
Moll. replied to mackay's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
What about the difference between bearded and border. The few bearded crosses i have met and/or read about have been a completely different type to the border cross. -
Fantastic looking lass

What a striking looking lass

Some people it seems cannot stand to see anyone enjoying themselves in what they do....sad really. Who would have though a nice little thread about how some pups from the same litter are developing would bring out such transparent animosity towards people. If people would try posting worthwhile threads themselves then perhaps there would be more interesting things to read, instead of just trying to belittle other peoples happiness.

Dont worry about it Frankel, tbh i dont think the comments are all to do with the dog, but more to do with getting at certain people

Millet made one of those last year

Thats my missus' walking draught excluder. Tomo that ferret is my breaker, he's great with the dogs dosen't notice them so he's a ideal fert for training purposes, plus he's big enough to look after himself. My missus has taught that ferret tricks he even retrieves. I think he's x'd with a dormouse........ Awwww

Ask Peter to tell you about Doris one day, she was like that, but ended up being a very valued member of the pack. Because she was not with every other dog fighting for one rat, she would get all the sneaky bolters that may have ended up escaping I really liked your lad
-
To true Lee, very sad for all concerned imo. Who knows if the dog had not been in that situation it may have never bitten anyone in the whole of it's life...but then again? Like i said...lot's of what if's.

ive got one of them meter things here that show what uses what electric i use.i did have halogen heaters in the shed but not anymore. i just use a heat lamp for the dogs although my biggest problem is not electricity consumtion is placeing it somewhere they dont keep blowing the bulb knocking it jumping onto the bed board Get a ceramic heat bulb then Paul, i have one in my growers shed, they are tough and wont break on contact
-
I've never heard a good things about tube heaters yet, so rubbish even poultry folk wont use them, or so i am led to believe. I use an oil filled radiator, they have a thermostat and i keep it just on so it keeps the chill out of the air. On reading the 'Which guide' for electric heaters they reckoned the oil filled radiators used the less electricity.

That was no nip, if you look at still taken from the video, the dog had his mouth WIDE open. If the dog had connected fully, which was very possible with that kind of full on bite, he perhaps may just have gone mental when hearing the screams. There are lots of what if's, what might, what caused etc....but at the end of the day that dog produced an unprovoked attack on a human. No warning, no nip, an actual bite. The people who are giving the dog an 'excuse' for biting are just as guilty of anthropomorpism as the anti's they so despise
-
This was my thought if i ever do decide to breed from him
-
Just because a bull cross is used for rabbits does not make it a failed fox dog I have never bred a dog in my life but i would definitely contemplate breeding a litter from this lad in the future. Is he the best rabbiting dog in the world, probably not, but he can go out night after night and catch with ease, he is biddable, intelligent, driven and well behaved. Imo there is no perfect dog. Perhaps i suffer from kennel blindness, but as an all round package (Apart from a couple of annoying things not work related) he is ideal for me

You cannot really judge the size of the pup by a photo of it standing alone. Try to get one of it stood next to a common object people can relate to.

fur loss on back of tail?
Moll. replied to nottzhunter08's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
My lurcher has a baldy patch mid tail. It is not due to fleas, grooming etc, it is just something some dogs get like baldy thighs. He has had is since he was young -
true moll, what ever the reason, it went right in (no warning) i think bad temp. It was stupid owner bringing a dog with temp like that to a public place like that, any dog can bite but you get (good) dogs and (bad) dogs and if you carnt see what that temp was you you (dont) know dogs At last, someone who gets what i mean. 'Normal' dogs display some kind of a warning first, that was no warning nip! And i don't care what breed of dog, any type showing that kind of aggression should not be alive.
-
Granted, she should not have done that with a strange dog. But no dog should show human aggression like that, no growl, no warning but straight in with a bite. It is a combination of either a bad dog/bad breeders/bad owners/bad judgement. If someone had posted on here a dog had bitten their child on the face, you would all be shouting get the dog pts, cannot take chances etc. The woman has required surgery to her face.
-
Hardly the presenters fault, regardless of what she did. She did not show any aggression or inflict any pain to the dog. If it had been a child putting it's face near the dog and the dog bit it, would the child be a stupid bitch.

No he waits till they're 18 now.............. Lmao Happy birthday SS
