    got one of these light nd balanced gas guns bit old i know,has anyone else got one,thincking of getting a wooden stock for it at £150 are they still balanced with the wood stock on? who can service these guns in yorkshire,just for ref

    Because they dont have as much inteligence as other lurchers. Thats why they were used, for the power yes, but also there fearlessness, and never say die attitude, brought to them with not being the cleverest dogs, simple really. Just as an insite, how many different lurchers and what breeds have you worked along side a bullx, and how many bullx have you worked with. As the assumption cant really be made by watching just one dog, say a 3/8 5/8. They all need to be studied, and anybody who has put this into practise, will surely have come up with the fact, that a bullx(no matter which kind) are

    Lol,, You aint seen a good one then,, ,, they would make a far better allround animal than a straight x,,, and if youre trying to say they wont take a bite then i would dissagree some collie cross are sick on teeth so carnt see the saluki doing many favours in that department,, although yes i would agree saluki adds a good bit of wind and i know a few coursing animals that have bumped into them on there travels,, one took to them one got bit and ran off lol,,,,, if the breeding is wright then this cross in the wright hands have great potential.     thancks for replys lads,all of them. i enjoy a good lamping night big bags or just walking for rabbits,its still a good buzz to watch dogs run on the lamp,no matter what you catch,so long as you enjoy it.

    try meths or nail varnish remover,it may be a dint in stock try boiling kettle nd pouring it on the stain,it will bump up then sand it flat,but go steady.

    when you cross a dog with a long dog you change it,yes i know its possible for any lurcher cross to run cunning or to use its weight,never work with kids or animals as the saying gose,they allways prove you wrong.thats why there is so meny lurchers in dog homes,no bad dogs only bad people in my books.atb lads

    I can relate to this Rupert on some shoots. nice post artic,but why is every one keeper cosy,explaining yourself for a few game birds,they are easy to take after they have been injured by shoots and are dying any how?dont get me wrong artic not slagging your dogs off,as you said no shoots on your land,but beaters can be keepers creeps,not all as ive done it in past,but this is a lurcher working forum,yes we need to shine up lurcher's image at times,but most keepers would have lurchers band,not all but most, now watch all keepers jump out on a lurcher forum, :sick: not yo

    try training it to sit stay or even retreve,yes it can be done with a bullx even at the age it is,It will still try that hard to please that it hurts its self,they are a bit like the shark called bruce off finding nemo,best i can explain them, nd can calm down later or find there feet better,but for now dont lose faith in it,,better to burn out than fade away nd never try,sorry about the cartoon lads but the kids made me watch it honest,,

    being a bit unfair to saluki's as they are bread for big game long runs,they tend not to stop.but their good points; hart guts, stamina, stamina,nd good feet if you get a good working line :thumbs:atb
