spot on , been running lurchers 25 years now, but the last 10 years as got bad for lack of game. I have put the time+ miles to get game, and as most have said (all ground) gets lamped to death sooner or later. I dont know if its because of the ban or more people coming in to the game.? I think it will be a big tester for alot of people to stay in the game, and if some do leave you carnt blame they, with lack of game+ getting pulled. Its not like 15-20 years ago, where it was feck off or maybe kick up the arse. Today loose motor+dogs , and looking for spots can get you down, you can drive 4h

you where saying lads dog was no good on fox as a young dog, still trying,no ill feelings at all just looked like you was bragging,nd you must realise alot of us hate the hunting ban,in england

strange that your wanting best dog,how much will it cost you running said greyhound on,then to find out its not up to scrach, will you then try another,,,when you can just buy a pup lurcher from working stock, what you have seen both dam nd sire work,nd are happy with them, its a hobby just enjoy it,you will never breed the best lurcher in the world thats a fact, its always some fluke what happens by chance to some kid that dose not even know what he has,or even how its bred,,,but hey you keep trying the greyhounds, when you could have been enjoying lurchers work.just trying to help bud not pulling -

i got him at just under 12 months mate it was a gamble i admit that but its one im glad i took!! hes done alot more than i ever expected he would this season and look forward to many more with him. we have treated him just like a lurcher the same age and he has done everything we have asked of him. his feet are perfect and had no problems with him even on hard ground, you can see im pushing his back end down on the slabs but they are still nice and tight he is 19 months old now and has had a good first season time will tell with your working greyhound bud,,ive tryed greyhounds, grews,

are you bothered about the greyhound blood in your line???/
hickymick replied to a topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
so your saying lurcher men of old are wrong to have bred lurchers from track greyhounds one eg would be a firstx bull grey for fox work pre ban,it works its fast enough to do job nd dose not cost the earth to make, then they use pups from said x to another 100% working first cross from track dogs,nd only breed true workers, what would it make if you used yours?and same method for, hares, rabbits,,dont tell the game what cross is chasing it nd it will never know sorry to disagree but it works nd has done for years,,i dont time the catch,i just enjoy to watch it caught, -
some need to talk you sold a few dogs on here bud, there rules about dog sellers

are you bothered about the greyhound blood in your line???/
hickymick replied to a topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
why would you need to do that to catch rabbits? any whippet or greyhound crossed with any working dog will do the job?most greyhounds are fast enough to catch stuff, now if your saying only use coursing greyhounds,,, why cos crossing with any dog dose not make it 100% that its going to work :icon_eek:you can cross best with best nd get nowt,to match sire or dam,its not time nd speed thats needed in the hunting field...atb mick iam not aware the guys on here only catch rabbits???????,,,,yes most greyhounds will do job crossed,,,,but most guys dont want a 275yrd sprint grey bitch to breed -

Here's a plan i have , lamp dimmer , cheep if it works!
hickymick replied to graham4877's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
why not ask on here for old dimmer switches,as the lamps dont last nd lads just buy new ones, wires go,reflectors go,some just buy new bud, -
there bones are honey combed as they have been bred to run fast for 100's of years, you carnt have a greyhound to do a lurchers job they just dont last,or get injured too often, they cross them for a reason lads, thats why we all dont have greyhounds to hunt with
