    shame on you john, with the state of that trap. Thats you told !!!!!!!, These are starting to look interesting, anyone used them enough yet to comment on whether they rust or blow up ?, as i was saying to John B last night will need to pick up another fifty or so in a few weeks time, was going to get Springers again but maybe i will hold fire until i hear about these.

    Deker, that is the weights i had for them. I to thought the lighter pellet should have been travelling fasrer than 20 ft/sec more than the Magnums, i will try them again this morning under more controlled conditions.

    Bit surprised the Bisley Magnum and AA field are quite so different! The AA actually come in different sizes, used to be 5.5mm but no longer, now available in 5.51mm and 5.52mm, take a look underneath tin, sticker will say which. My barrel is too tight for 5.52 and power drops, get more power and better results with 5.51mm. AA field and Bisley Magnum only give me about 0.5ft lb difference. Mine runs at 26ft lb!     Tried a couple of sorts through the crony this afternoon, Bisley Magnums were running at 29 ft/lbs, AA Fields were runing at 24 ft/lbs, wanted to try the Eley Mags but although they fit the magazine they dont go into the barrel. Obviously power means nothing without accuracy so will try the other sorts i have for energy output and then when i have a day that is still, and i am not snowed under with work i will test them all at varying ranges on targets for grouping and down range accuracy, not forgetting trajectory between 20-60 yds.     As an aside, what's the record time for a NEWBIE becoming an EXTREME HUNTER through posting a number of irrelevent posts? Blimey see what you meen, he,s only been on here 22 days and already up on 247 posts, looks like someone needs a girlfriend or a life.     Bloody hell, you did well there, they put the price up every year for that tin pot affair, they charge almost that for one ticket. We dont go anymore as we felt they take the piss on their entry fee because people are wanting to get back out after the winter lay up. You could accept the price if there were things laid on like at the CLA/ Midland, but there isnt bugger all other than a few stands. Enjoy.

    Mate of mine who,s wood i stalk in asked me to pop over and get rid of a mole that was heaving in his orchard, while we were chatting it started heaving soil and i half heartedly stamped my heel into the hill, poor bugger was only about three inches down and i had him. It went some way towards redeeming myself for accidently letting a squirrel go out of one of the live catch traps he had set.

    Must be using a bore laser jobby, or bore sighting, on a good day i can get within a inch and a half with the latter, but would never fork out the kind of money they want for the former.

    Worlds No 1 mole catcher, bar none. Good at making money and even better at spending it, Excel with a rifle, but not so good with a scattergun, Very Very good at turning expensive fermented water into a bi product.

    Some wise words there from Rolfe, the only thing i would add is make sure you allow for extra time, as for him being a poor farmer with 400 acres of dairy, i dont think so, especially now they are finally getting a fair price per litre at long last. Just remember to remind him that if he is making grass silage it is worth around £30 a tonne to him and it only takes one good mole hill to ruin that amount, false economy not to get the moles sorted before harrowing and rolling.     Would not worry about it too much mate, it is a job that has to be done, probably a bit much of an emotive subject for a forum like this though. And the other thing that springs to mind is people who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones, especially if they have put up a few posts that were how shall we say, erring on the rediculous.     places to shoot, im into rabbit shooting, pigeon shooting, pheseant shooting, rat shooting, starling shooting, and squirell shooting, Dont want to be funny, but you dont shoot Starlings anymore it is illegal, they were taken off the general open licence about two years ago.     Thanks Magwitch, i am well and truly on the mend now, have been out and about on the moles, even been up your neck of the woods last Thursday, coming up again tomorrow, but not as far across, Polesden lacey and Sheffield park. Vader, my Archer cost £1700 for the C grade it is fairly good once they finally got it sorted, need to speak to them again though as it keeps going dim, change all the batteries etc, give it a shut off for a while and it is still the same, makes me mad as hell. You go out a couple of nights later and it is fine and stays working.

    Ditchy, Trappa is not quite correct, the traditional mole trappers register IS £75 to join, but it has nothing to do with selling pelts, i have not joined, but they occasionaly still e mail me with jobs that come in through their web site, these are generally anywhere in devon or cornwall. Admitadly for the most part the leads have been a bit of a waste of time, the people are just looking for someone local to give them advice, one of the jobs was a goer, but she was already one of mine but had lost my card.     Chalky i am a little worried about the gimpy rubber gauntlets mate, had you just come off the night shift. Never ceases to amaze me, the amount of times trapping a nice quiet garden or whatever, you decide it is time to drain the vein and sure as eggs is eggs someone turns up, then it is the clamp of death while you try to wind it back in and look nochelant. I think the wet streak down the trouser leg can be a bit of a give away though.
