PRO MOLE TRAPPERS ONLY.
mole trapper replied to mole trapper's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Seen that set up of yours before, good idea that. My old man is still farming over near Newcastle Emlyn, you want to get over that way, people ask him all the time if he will clear their moles, he is 74 now though so he is not intereseted. All the best, MT. -
Just wondering today whether this is just a west country thing or a national phenomana, I reckon at a rough guesstimate i lose between 15-20 duffus traps a year to badgers taking them with a mole in, when you go to a garden or a bit of rough pasture and you see the tell tell signs of a badger chasing a mole you know to add on for a minimum of one trap. These days i do not lose quite as many as i used to, because i try to find natural things to hand that will disguise the smell a bit, ie, fox or sheep shit, both generally available, especially the former because of their liking for curling one

Help wanted in starting up in pest control.
mole trapper replied to a topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Seeing as you are in Yorks, contact Killgerm in Osset i believe, they do foundation courses etc, failing that get in touch with the BPCA, expensive but considerd as the industry standard. -
'SHOOTING IN' A RIFLE BARREL
mole trapper replied to arcpest's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
All of my centrefires bar one have been put through the forest bore foam regime, they all shoot better than i ever will, however my 22-250 which did not get any barrel conditioning of any description just got shot any old how is nothing like as accurate/ consistent, still killed a lot of foxes at some respectable distances to almost point blank. @ 100 YDS on paper it will only do around one and a half inch. Any new rifles in the future will always be treated in the correct manner. -

.410 Wanted with Skeleton Stock?
mole trapper replied to Rolfe's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Rolfe, when i lived up country used to see these in New Avon Arms in Bristol, failing that would almost guarantee that if you gave Rommel a shout down at Helston Gunsmiths he would have a couple knocking around. RegardsMT. -
How to set magnum body grips
mole trapper replied to markieboi's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Devonlad, how much wire you after, if you are not after a great deal, i might be able to spare enough for your needs and drop it by. Providing i dont get abducted by aliens or something in the meen time. -

Sorry Ditch, my dads is a 350, he has had it about 5 years now, i can guarantee the oil has never been checked, he would not know what a service is, and still it never misses a beat.

Ditto what Ian said, my old man is 74 and is still farming sheep up in the hills, he has a small honda, gets him everywhere.

For a 12 bore shotgun you only need a shotgun certificate not a FAC.
-
You dont need one mate, it,s a shotgun, never mind it was worth a go. Regards MT.

What pellet for 30 ft/lbs air ranger ?.
mole trapper replied to mole trapper's topic in Airgun Hunting

How to set magnum body grips
mole trapper replied to markieboi's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Without trying to sound offensive, if you cannot work out how to set them, maybe you shouldnt even be trying. Took the words right out my mouth, they should come with a warning on them, "not for amateur use, exept for collection purposes only" -
Would you be interested in a swap, i have a very up together skb side by side 12 bore, plenty of engraving, handles very nicely indeed, it is worth about £350-£375 would be happy to make the rest up to value in cash. Give me a shout if interested. Regards MT.

MC, what are you saying, you cannot question someone who writes for a paper, he even flogs stuff at shows.

What pellet for 30 ft/lbs air ranger ?.
mole trapper replied to mole trapper's topic in Airgun Hunting
Nooo, tricky rabbits that have been messed with by amateurs before the land owners realise they need to get a pro in and sort their problems out for them at great expense, and where my rimmys are too likely to cause damage or harm by ricochet. It will be just yet another tool of my trade to enable me to offer customers a holistic approach to an age old problem. -
Bought a Daystate Airanger yesterday, it is running at 30 ft/lbs, apparently because i have not gone power mad this should mean i have a wider choice of pellets that will group well and not deform in the barrel, so the question is, anyone with relevant knowledge of air rifles running at this power level got any help on brands of quality pellets worth me trying, rather than me buying lots on a trial and error basis. Any advice greatly appreciated. Regards MT.

duffus type for me every time , no if,s no buts, why put a trap in the ground that can only catch one when you have a Duffus that can and will at this time of year catch two. Flat pack we will see, they have just sent me a sample as i told them what a load of crap the 50 they sent me last year were (rust, never seen anything like it), the sample is staying in the ground for a month or so.

YES !!!!! this is what i have been missing, get on lads, personally i find the wifes stockings far better and they dont need anchor pins. And in a slightly more lucid moment, i bought a 100 yrd trammel from jb nets about a year ago, i think that one has 9 inch pockets.

Well done Rew, i think the last picture does the day justice best. Wish i was out ferreting in this weather instead of mole trapping, but work must come first.
