  1. Not every one that runs salukis plasters them all over the web notice 90% of the dogs that get lifted are ones that have been publicised all over the web. I know at least a dozen lads that run pures so think you need a rethink. What do you run by the way?
  2. if its a skin woumd and its not gaping and flapping, just bathe it regular with salt water and just make sure its clean inside. the dog will lick it itself no flies around so leave it without covering it will dry and heal quicker.
  3. Funny you should mention that WM, an old boy I used to work with mentioned a syndicate round there. He bred and ran Deerhound crosses with John Nuttall of Clithero. Jimmy was a tenant on a dairy farm in Halsall, which he lost because of his coursing activity's. He always said the best of the first crosses always came out of a Deerhound dam but as you said, the 3/4 was the better on big land. He used to say that 'they' would come up to Altcar and try all sorts of crosses but none of 'em could really kill hares like their dogs. The Deerhound crosses were the only decent hare killers he'd ever se
  4. Talked to quite a few old running lads from 50,s and 60,s lot used to run collie cross greyhound for big and small land then they seemed to fall out of favour in 70.s and ,s from what I have been told
  5. the lurcher is a pup part of growing and learning is using the mouth the mother of the litter shows neck catching and throat griping the labrador will soon slap it down if it gets to toothy. use voice commands rather than a line or whistle but before any kind of training bond with the pup first when you have bonded then begin the training and voice commands when ever you are around the pup fuss it and talk with it using one word commands not sentences.
  6. Thanks. I will of course be thinking very hard about it. I am a responsible owner and none of our pups would go to just any Tom, Dick or Harry. I have to definate homes and 3 who have booked in advance although their circumstances may change. I will buy a dog if I do not think I can find suitable homes. My dogs are my family not just a commodity. are these working homes or walk round the park homes ?? Did you read my Introduction? I did say I do permission work (rabbits) on a local farm. 3 of the homes out of the 5 so far will be worked yes. no i didnt read your intro,, wasted
  7. The Kennel Club wouldn't register or shouldn't register brindles snyway therefore no papers. a piece of advice dont trust kc papers to much especially when it comes to salukis ,dont forget none of the COO,s had papers when they came here and some of the dodgy arabs have been known to slip the odd grey x in for speed
  8. colours are partly due to dominant colour genes but Dna of the parents will mean that any of the normal saluki colours could be produced even from two parents of the same colour, just steer well clear of anything with brindle in it in "Pure Breds " lol
  9. The hormone ostregeon is increased in the seasonal break
  10. that was funny why did you even bother your self to type that shit I see your from Durham you have answered your own question
  11. Baw being spineless do you find it difficult to remain upright in windy conditions I always find it helps if you can roll every where
  12. most adult dogs dont get ear mites thats assuming it is an adult dog
  13. could be wax and crap in his ear flush his ears and try some bicarbonated drops in them to help soften any wax . dont go poking down its ears as if something in thiere you could push it further in.. Why give antibiotics if you didnt know if it was an infection?
  14. Try doing trade off training with the saluki some tasty morsel hes interested in for what he has in his mouth. Nowadays the retrieving to hand is not always the best idea especially with the long eared stuff LOL. Mine retrieve to me useally mice, moles, frogs and every other bit of shite with a pulse they find and usually when least wanted LOL
  15. A hare lives on the land 24/7 it knows every inch of it and where and how to find the escape routes, also the hare by natural selection it is usually the fittest, healthiest and strongest hares that survive the season and the hard winters so the breed has a natural selection method unlike some of the shite that is bred and peddled as coursing dogs.
  16. Well bred tried amd tested saluki cant be beaten on wind and prey drive
