  1. We have a simple 5-point rule to overcome in military sniping skills. SHAPE. SHADOW. SHIFT. SHIMMER and SHINE Good fieldcraft, camouflage and concealment encompasses all of these and addresses them successfully. It amazes me how much people will pay for camouflage jackets and trousers these days, when, really, there are a few fundamental defences our quarry possesses that we need to overcome, mostly with common sense. The key objective with you and your clothing, is to convince your quarry that you are not there. Ever! Before you shell out (Or waste!) serious money on cammo. There
  2. Hi Grayling. Wow! That venom HW80 of yours must be a beauty. I've never yet seen a less-than -beautiful example. I don't think Venom made that rich walnut stock for a left hander like me, so, owning one was a never-to-be-realised dream. I have a magnificent HW80 on my ticket to make up for that though! I remember something like Optima had a Moonlighter range of scopes too and Tasco, I think, ended up re-branding their moonlighter as the Panorama WA (Wide Angle) because of legal concern regarding this. I'm not totally sure. But it was a good scope I do know! It had an objective lens
  3. Hi Grayling. I was really speaking for myself when I said I do not feel it right to shoot at live quarry with open sights. I don't consider myself quite as good as I used to be with open sights. By all means if you have the skill to shoot accurately and kill humanely with open sights on your rifle then, use them! Many shooters still prefer them, not being able nor willing to comprehend optical sights. I know of one chap who cannot get on with a scope for love nor money! I don't, generally speaking, use this method of sighting anymore as my eyes are not as young as they once were
  4. Hi there. Many years ago, (it seems lifetimes back) I shot with open sights because there was no other option when I was a youngster. I had several Webley rifles and these were superb. Then, I had a German Feinwerkbau Sport .22 and an Original 45 .22 both of which was phenominally accurate on open sights and I hunted with them successfully until Tasco began introducing scopes that you could use with an air rifle. I shoot with scopes on my rifles like everyone else nowadays but, in recent months, I've been practicing with the open sights on my Weihrauch HW77 .22. Though they are very accu
  5. As far as I'm concerned sureshot.177 you have nothing to prove to anyone. I cannot for the life of me see how the spat involving you and Buster seemed to just "Appear" from nothing. Please don't go exposing personal info openly here mate, you never know who might be reading it among the "Guest" viewers. Now, everyone. Shake hands in spirit and end this paranoia that has sprung up about the Graham clan. They'll be pissing themselves laughing if they could see this. It's been embarrassing enough! Pianoman
  6. Me too! I've splurted tea all over the friggin' screen when I read that!  It's made my day. Brilliant Moxy! I've not laughed this much in ages! Simon
  7. Welcome to the section 1989964.... Got a name? Simon the Pianoman
  8. That's not fighting talk young Hot-Head-Skot. This is the balm of kindly thought. It is the words of a man who walks in peace with his world and delights in the simple pleasures of shooting a 12-bore as well as an air rifle.................well, a PCP. But at least he got the HW80 from Darryl and the spaghetti shotgun right!
  9. Hello Paul and welcome here. Might take you up on your kind offer! Best wishes. Simon
  10. Nothing personal here but....Just what the bloody hell are you talking about laddie? Are you with us or not???
  11. Hear Hear! At the risk of sounding like an old codger, we never knew anything like this on active operations in my service days and we sometimes wondered if anyone back home gave a toss? Only when you are far from home and in danger does a kind thought and just a bit of proper chocolate, mean so much. It angers me that we need charity to support our soldiers with simple, inexpensive comforts that are as powerful to morale as an effective weapon. But, I'm mighty proud that we have taken an active part in this initiative, been a contributing part of it myself; and see it working in get
  12. WRONG!!! hi daz you need one for day time shooting one for lamping one with night vision one for competition and one for fun so i make that five, and then you need a couple of winter projects too so 7 or 9 is what you need No Mr T, Your Just Like Darryl just Plain Greedy Hording all that Airgun Porn  atvb Daz 7. A true shooting man cannot have enough air rifles young Daz. What have I told you before Laddie! Underlever? Break Barrel? Sidelever? Calibre? How do you expect a balanced, harmonious Libran male like me to settle on just one or three
  13. So dear lad, let's recap here a minute... You looked for all the world like the bloke at number wotsit who has guns, apparently aiming a 'rifle with a telescopic sight' at the neighbours house across the road.... Aye ... Doesn't everyone? ....Laddie!
  14. I know that darkdd81 old son! No offence intended. I was just angry at myself for being taken in by this excuse of a turd and defending him in the light of what I thought was flimsy evidence at best. When he posted that vid of him apparently shooting pellets at 30 yards I knew there was something wrong by the fact you could hear the bloody rifle being cocked and shot. He must have been about 15 yards tops from his target. Silencers on PCPs aren't that bad.... And I heard his voice before! Best wishes. Simon
  15. The advices here are all good for you Skot. Try another brand of pellet like H&NFTT and RWS SUPERFIELDS. I've had nothing but wonderful returns on these in my .22 Weihrauch rifles. I don't see why the same shouldn't be for you in .177 calibre. And as Mac has kindly pointed to; maybe have a good look at your trigger setting? Might need a touch softening with a turn of the adjustment screw TO LEFT. Take some off the right bias you may have???? For all that though, don't worry my young chum! There is nothing going on here that cannot be resolved. If this was me. I'd get it to Andy. Or
  16. Thanks Andy. I did hope you wouldn't mind doing me the honour again. She will be coming over to you when I get her here in about a couple of weeks time. Just to your usual standards just like you did with my HW77 .22..One pellet-hole grouping at 35 yards. That's all I ask! I'm certain this HW97KT could produce a single pellet-hole group at 40, maybe 50 metres. Looking forward to it now mate. Love. Simon
  17. I got shot in the face by a .22 Relum Tornado underlever courtesy of my idiot cousin when I was about ten years old. The old story; "I didn't think it was loaded!!" Still got the pellet lodged in my left cheek just an inch under my eye! Never forgot how much blood your face can pump! Didn't put me off shooting though. But it has made me very aware how easy it is to let your guard slip Pianoman Edit to add. I was talking to Jim Hogan the other day at Red Beck shooting supplies and he showed me his thumb that had been partly severed and split in half by an un-bear trapped
  18. 'Rabbit's head is about the size of a potato. Take a felt tip pen and a piece of hardboard. Draw an egg-shaped oval and add a pair of ears about 3 inches long. Add a 5p sized circle between eye and earlobe area to represent brain spot. Set it up at your zeroing range or where you need to get a fix on trajectory. Saves fannying about with computers and costs nowt'. I do this most of the time for practicing. It works great Pianoman
  19. This is great film from you two friends here. Thanks to this, the more I see vids like this, of these competitions, the more certain I become of how to approach them from a relative newcomer's point of view. Very reassuring to watch what the standards are among shooters. I love Chaz's approach. Very relaxed, unhurried and in command of his rifle. I really have great respect for him,for the care he has taken with his shooting. Nice one lads. Regards and compliments. Simon
  20. I have done jjm Mac...You've been looking at Archie's avatars too long I see mate, judging by your new one! Helen's a whizz with cameras and computers Mac so, I'll get her to post up pics of the new rifle Simon
  21. It's a true one though Skot. If that's how you find your HW95 to you! The HW98 is another on my shopping list too. That's a 95 action with a bull barrel and an adjustable stock. And it's a blisteringly accurate sporter! One for Rob to consider too! Cheers mate. Simon
  22. I'll give you that Mike, the TX200 is the fairest of all in the aesthetics department. But the 97 has one crucial issue better sorted than its prettier Brit stablemate. And in my hands, Weihrauchs work on with precision; without something coming to grief. And that's all it should be about! Best regards fella. Simon
