New baby on order. No bottle feed!
pianoman replied to pianoman's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi Elliott. You're absolutely right mate. The thing I found with the thumbhole stock of this rifle is that it performs better than it looks. The HW97KT is a superbly balanced rifle. Having said all of that though, I'm now thinking on what it would be like with my HW77's stock fitted...??? I think it could be incredible. Best regards. Simon -

Hi woodcote. I have Si Pittaway's Hawke 6-18x44 Airmax with an SR12 reticle that I like. It'll need to be calibrated with Chairgun but, I love how it works. Skott I think Davy has it here for your answer, it's always a consistency with harmonics on the rifle that determines what and why it's shooting to. Hold and follow-through might need attention here. Gusty wind conditions are hardly ideal are they...Laddie! Get out when the winds are low and assess yourself and you'll soon get your rifle singing again mate! -

Hi Skot. You just never know from rifle to rifle, which pellet is going to deliver the fullest potential, until you try them mate. But these days, it's a bloody dear do with the price of ammo that works, let alone testing and rejecting the ones that don't! Lewis, if you don't mind, I'll PM my address mate. Thanks a lot that's really kind of you! Best wishes lads. Simon -
If it came to just one and one only....I really couldn't make my mind up! Both are just superb rifles Rob. It will really come down to which one you like the look and handling of, for the type of shooting you want to do, best of all. I've spent a great afternoon today range-testing an HW97KT thumbhole in beech. The stock has an adjustable butt-pad and the rifle was .22 calibre. I was absolutely won over by how good this rifle handled and performed and after a think about what I was really in need of, I've gone for a .177 version for HFT. I'm very well served for .22 precision huntin

Acts of violence will render you, right or wrong, not only a police record. Thereafter, the police will refuse on sight, any application for a firearms license or shotgun certificate. Lose that pleasure for twatting a worm like Steve Graham? No. Let someone else with not so much to lose do it. It's going to happen sooner or later. Pianoman

That's very kind of you Elliott. PM on its way! Thanks too woodcote. My HW80 .22 FAC loves RWS Superfields. Best wishes. Simon -
Horses for courses Mike. Respectfully mate, I have owned both my Mk.III TX200 .22 standard rifle and TX200HC .177 carbine, from new, for 12 years now. Both are in mint condition. Both are superbly accurate. Both are brilliant hunters. I love em! And both have an underlever latch-up block I do not like for what I need the HW97KT to do. The TX .22 rifle's underlever is not as precise on cocking return as the TXHCs and skews about the ball detent needing extra attention to secure it properly home. It also has the screamingly maddening habbit of working itself loose and falling off

Cheers for this Darryl. I'm sort of secretly hoping mine will love Accupels too as I really like the look and feel of these pellets. They look well made and like they'll do the job consistantly and superbly well. I just don't have a rifle, as yet, that likes them. I think H&N FTT are a safe bet too mate. Never yet had a Weihrauch rifle that didn't like these. Thanks for all your helpful suggestions here lads. Regards. Simon -
Help! Permission lost due to equine mystery
pianoman replied to milegajo's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I think you are the victim of unfortunate circumstances Mike. Hard to say what gets into a horse's head! Fireworks exploding might have been a contributing factor -hence the shotgun query. I cannot see how a single fellow with just a TX200 can cause a mare to abort her pregnancy! I don't think the lady is thinking with clarity; other than she sees you as a figure with a "gun" in the vacinity of her horses she can eliminate from the problem. Sorry to read this mate. Simon -

Thanks Davy, that's really kind of you so, when it gets here I'll let you know. I saw your previous remarks about giving your TX200 another chance to redeem itself after your placing with it. We'll get together with it when I'm down at Helen's again soon, if you can meet up?! Regarding your TX200. Sounds to me like you are a bit less than happy with it mate. I have a beautiful TX20HC .177 in walnut but, I feel that the Weihrauch rifle is the one to go into the competition arena with. Just that I love Weihrauch's straight-to-the-point handling with precision accuracy. The 97KT came over -
Thanks hw97K. It's a beautifully compact handling rifle and just the job I want for what I have coming up here.

Gentlemen. There's a busy time in shooting for me coming up. The UK Spring Rifle Championships are in my sights for next year as well as our own HFT at the Nottingham meet in January PLUS The Spring rifle VS PCP challenge I'm going to be shooting with Davy... Sooooo....Thanks to the major amounts of praise for the Weihrauch HW97KT I've been reading, plus the fact that I love all things Weihrauch-shape, I've spent a very enjoyable afternoon range-testing one in .22 at Redbeck Shooting Supplies and so impressive was the performance, I've ordered one in .177 as a competition HFT rifl -
It might be Mac..... Never owned one of these before, I'm going by how people have raved about them....Including your good self. So, I've gone for one in .177 as a competition rifle. :toast: Best wishes mate. Simon

Well today, I enter the fray on the HW97KT front because I've just ordered one in .177 with a beech stock. I love the compact handling and the accuracy is perfect. I'm in need of a .177 competition rifle for the UK Spring Rifle championship title next year and this is the rifle for me to go for it with! And the recoiling spring rifle class HFT at the January meet in the new year! Simon

Well, I took your advice johnnypro and today, I've just bought a Weihrauch HW97KT in .177 flavour, to compliment my Weihrauch HW77 .22...! Welcome to the section sir! Pianoman

Advice required for appointment with squirrel
pianoman replied to KTM950's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
As Rob says, your rifle choices are perfect for your shooting ambitions. Scopes are largely a thing of personal choice with regards to reticles. Hawke are probably the most popular make. Their current Panorama series makes a great scope for an air rifle. Others love their MTC Mambas. I love Bushnell Legend and an old Scopechief 4-14x50mm scope I have; and Simmons Whitetail Classics with simple 30-30 reticles but, they are awesome for keeping a pin-sharp zero all day and through changing temperatures. I prefer spring rifles to gas rams. Nothing wrong with either. It's just what I'm used to. -

Have a very happy birthday and many more John. Best wishes mate Simon

Why waste time and money looking for, or restricting your effective ranges with a short/medium range pellet? Your quary will not have complaints or issues about the ammo you choose to send zipping into its brain, so stick to what your rifle is at its likely best with, in all scenarios. And that will be a diablo, domed pellet. Pianoman

Maybe we should start again bullit666 ???

Before you go near anything alive with the rifle, set up a sequence of targets at different ranges, 5-metres out to 50 metres, or only where you honestly feel your max hunting range might be; and practice, practice, practice till you can hit the lot with the rifle's trajectory without a moment to think about where your shot will fall. Then you will know exactly what you have to hunt with, as you must at all times Pianoman
