  1. when i was about 14 my old man had a 24"TTS collie whip grey he was 12 so my old man put him across a young lurcher bitch to gain a pup for himself,when the pup came along chaz was retired to me as my dog but i did'nt retire him far from it,chaz was a well known dog and althougth he had lost his speed he had gained a very clever brain.everywhere i went so did chaz, i can remember one occassion when i was ferreting on the cider institute and land owner came across shouting and balling,chaz stood between me and this bloke growling and snapping until i got my ferrets and nets and jumped the fence
  2. the buzz for me is watching my dog run,once the quarry is caught or escapes buzz over,this is a hard question to answer for reasons already stated but 20 rabbits is a good night imo
  3. Cheers rake aboot, been ferreting for the best part of 20 years but am new to the area. Knocking doors was my first port of call. Unfoutunatley most of the land here is owned by the MOD. I'm looking intowho to contact at HQ land to request prmission on military propert. do you have any dogs ? if so try not to take them when looking for permo,i have permission in the lambourne area they dont seem to like dogs until you are well known to them , all the best ryan

    Lurcher name

    this is definitely the favourite so far....... some names of my past dogs :drum,solo,chaz,strike,snap,beam,mooch,buck,gripper,snatch,jock,snipe,spud,try.
  5. from what i have seen plumbers seem to do the job ok they also seem to work well as a pack not too much scrapping etc,but to be honest i think that most strains of terrier will rat. our pack consists of beddy x whip,2 lakelands,1 border,cocker x lakeland,3 whippets and my little lurcher beddy whip x collie grey....my kennels are nearly full,only joking lol...the cocker x lakie and the lurch are mine what are the lakelands like? I am just reading "tales of a rat hunting mam" by plummer. And he say's that lakelands are very hard but not as smart, have you found this? But I do like the

  13. hi all i have a 4 year old golden cocker bitch part trained,has had 3 seasons in the beating line will pick up,and has worked in the pigeon hide,and has been rough shooting a hard hunting bitch that stays close stops on whistle and easy to handle,small type and although her pedigree says golden i would call her red.she is a daughter of ftch gusty silvan,i am thinking of selling her because i can no longer beat every week during the season,.....what sort of money do you think that she is worth thanks in advance for any replies ryan

  16. my 3 quails are sitting eggs what is the chance of sucessfully rearing young is it a good chance or slim,and for all those who asked for an update on my first aviary my pair of greenies are sitting along with my javas,thankyou all for the advice on my last post in this section

  18. i have a cocker x lakeland,she bushes for rabbits well,not the best ratter but does a decent enough job,works with ferrets ,and i have beat on shoots with her. her mother lakey bitch was a great dog but went to ground,my cocker dog got across her accident mating but now i'm glad it happened..i would recomend terrier spaniel cross all day long atb ryno

  20. diet shakes over his food will build weight fast its like having 2 meals in one,though i would'nt advise it for any great length of time! atb ryno
  21. i am new to aviary birds,but i know my pigeons ,and for mite treatment i use duramitex,or harkamitex as its now called.just dilute it as instructed and spray, you can also use it to dip birds but make sure you dilute it double again i meant to say it should be the same for aviary birds,i posted to give you the name of the treatment i'm sure the supplier can advise you more .i hope this helps atb ryno

  23. i keep racing pigeons myself,but my grandads brother clive taylor held and i believe still holds the record for tippler flying hours I can garentee he doesnt mate. Was he flying in the ntu and what was his best time? He may have flown in a totally diferent national club tho. Cant remember the name of the bloke who has the record but ill find out. DO you know wich club ur grandads brother and what birds did he fly? don't know what club he flew in ,but can you find out the record holders name mate,i cant ask me grandad he has gone on,clive is from bristol if that helps atb ryan

  25. eggs etc contain vitamin k,this is a blood clotting agent.thats why warfarin (blood thinning) does'nt work to well on chicken farms as rat poison,they eat the antidote vitamin k (eggs)! all the best watchman ryan
