  1. go take a look in the general section, pinned at top is a post about SACS, get that mate, its the best, £28 single membership, £38 family, not wanting to slate any others down, but NFR will cost you around a tenner, just for ferreting, BASA around the same just for air rifles, well SACS gives you 5 million public liability for ANY country sport not inc horses
  2. we were ferreting a hedgerow, and magwitch necked it, then tried to throw it across to us on the other side, to put on the pile, luckerly from our side, plus cos Im a tall lanky sod, I was able to stand on tip toes and grab its rear legs and PULL!!!!!
  3. it was a brilliant day, thanks once again to magwich for the Invite, as stated the beginning of the day was a slow start, large area's were netted only to produce 1's ans 2's, which was why we had time for so many photo's, again I scoffed my way through both magwich's and Inan's tucker of soup and sarnie's, so next time out lads, the pot noodles are on me you cant help but have a good day, with Inan cracking jokes left, right and centre have 2 nice fat rabbits in the house freezer, ready for dinner, in the week, rest in my freezer in pugs court my catch and release method, we had a dig
  4. would you belive, the pugs chased it outta the hole so quick, it hit a mound left by Inan and went through the air like evil knevil
  5. here's a picture of a new technique that magwitch has for necking a rabbit, throw them up, and let the branch do it
  6. definatly run a longnet around them bushes
  7. I have only ever noticed a problem with dripping bottles, when the wire attaching them to the cage front is too tight, resulting in THE DRIP, try making something like this, never have drip problems
  8. of course there are, how many parents have chucked the terrapin their kids bought in a shop for 50p into a pond, cos its getting to big, well think back 30yrs there wernt no such thing as a "dangerous animal" license, I can remember a local pet shop having a big brown bear out back, to draw people in, lots of large rural houses had small zoo's to drag punters in, and sell them cups of tea, and £2-00 to look round, then the laws changed, if you wanted to keep such things, you needed a special license, that cost serious money, new cages etc how many small places thought sod it, its cheaper
  9. I personaly would'ent wanna put a fert down, if digging wernt allowed, maybe look into the DELIBERATE DIGGING meaning??, if its a nature reaserve, surely you digging to an injured animal is ok??
  10. i would say possible, but why??? is he saying this, so he can justify aiming at a larger area, a blow to the head, needant penatrate the skull, the blow itself is enough to kill, but a heart shot has got to go through fur, skin, bone to hit the heart, any less and you just have another bunnie dying a slow painfull death, after running away/undergrown
  11. I do, but you look along way from essex
  12. you can get a tick puller, cost about £1-50 not a lover of just pulling off, as this can SOMETIMES lead to infection frontline is harder to get hold off these days, as shops need special license to sell it, as its not normally over the counter sales my local shop is getting some stuff in called "tick away", I'll post on if its any good once put to the test the spot on stuff is a preventative like flea drops, at £2-99 per animal as the link says, not much good for those of us that keep higher numbers of ferrets
  13. found a few on my jill after ferreting, I used a guinea pig spray, followed by a bath with dog flea shampoo, which did the trick, but have been told "frontline" spray is the better thing to use as it will kill both flea/ticks, be careful cos the do get off once fed, so can still be in the bedding/sawdust etc and therefore can transfer between animals
  14. cut the terrier locator off and put a smaller collar on, hay presto, a ferret locator and box
  15. I always say "a death in the family" works a treat, even had the boss phone me once, to say take off as much time as I needed richie, I have some really small jills, and mk3 collars are fine on them, 2nd from last hole, sorted
  16. so I went to a small bit of permission I have in theydon bois, was hoping to get the next couple of fields from next door farmer, as all the warrens are on his side, but no luck, my farmer said he was a moaney git, anyway took the air rifle along with one fert and some nets, saw 2 rabbits as we approached the field and that was it all morning, did a couple of small warrens that have produced 1 or 2 in the past, but nothing, think this will have to get left as a summer time shoot rather than ferrets roll on next weekend
  17. looks like you both had a good day pat, check out the "boundary fence" post, you'll see i had no luck gaining more permission, so just gonna pop over there for a couple of hours with the rifles, and just 1 fert and some nets for a very small warren
  18. good vid' mine would be up and over that enclosure in a second though
  19. update; well checked on an ordanance survey map, found the name of the nearest farm, and drove up there today, found out the farmers name from a neighbour beforehand too, but no luck, was polite and told him the story of being a pest control officer, doing the rabbit control for the local train station, which in turn got me the permission i have, but that most of the warrens were on his side, he reckon'ed he already had someone ferreting, but the odd bit, said they never ferret that boundary line cos its too overgrown (billocks is it) in case they have to dig???? but thanks but no thanks,
  20. if its rocky, and a mountain, you'll need a kango hammer to dig a 2ft hole for the box wont ya????
