  1. lets not start up another post on silver breeding please do a search on silver to silver, theres pages on it
  2. also, you'd get more response if you posted in the correct section , say, shotguns maybe, this is the introduction section, so introduce yaself, then ask the same question in the other section

  4. hi all, have been keeping me fingers crossed the last 8 hours, that me phone did'nt ring, as I was on emergancy call out for work (pest control) and I can now relax and go to bed, so to all those that know me, and those that dont... have a great time today,
  5. kay, look at the eye's, ones an albino, the others a silver by the look of it
  6. this is a point i was trying to make, the cost of dogs means that a breeding line can be followed back, but ferrets are chucked together willy nilly, sold on, exchanged, to a point where an owner has no idea what breeding they have, this argument can go on and on, I for one, will always give the advice not to pair silver to silver, as with ferrets its not so much the colour we are trying to breed, but a worker, crow, from his post's will always say do it, i think at the end of the day, owners can ask for advice, read both for and against points of view, and deside themselves
  7. good points put over there crow, the trouble is, a lot of ferret keepers wont take the trouble to look into matings or read up on the subject, and so someone says, it can be done, they take that on face value, breed silver to silver, maybe produce some that are deaf, but dont realise it, keep one or two and sell the rest on, putting more defective ferrets out there, which then get bred from unknowingly and it goes on and on, I take my findings from years of breeding exhibition budgerigars "CLEARS" never pairing them together, but always going for the outcross mating, it meant I only ever got
  8. after re reading ya post andy, realise you wer'nt having a pop, have MAN FLU at mo, and you know what that does to ya
  9. are you saying the gun is empty and you cant pump any in?? if so, its because you cant pump enough pressure in by hand to close the valves, with a pump, its recomended that you re fill the gun when half empty, if its totally empty it needs a fill from a bottle, as that has enough pressure to close the valves, then top up each time after 40 or so shots hope that helps
  10. so your saying, when someone ask's for advice, we should just keep quite
  11. Im running vista, and its great, once its all sorted, dont know jack $hite bout computers myself, but a mate looked at it when we first got it, cos it wouldent accept the printer we had, he reckons vista dont like any add on hardware using usb ports and that was our prob, we had to re run wire to the master usb???? also kept chucking me off me multiplayer games, so some more tweeking was reqd, but runs ok now
  12. yes, just buy another magazine, that'll give you 20
  13. hi fish, joined ya jack's shed after see'ing the link, stick up a picture of this trap then, so I can figure out what ya on about
  14. take a chill pill fella's, light hearted joke, because of the whereabouts of his hol's
  15. I'll second that, aint been the same without Inans banter plus its heavy going, carrying all the gear and rabbits between two of us hope you aint brought back any ting tongs from tooting Inan
  16. and there was me thinking, no I wont stick it on you tube how many rabbits did we get from that set again
  17. or just keep them both/hutch scrupleously (cant spell) clean, its just the fact that when in season, their arse end is so close to the floor, its an entry point for disease, if kept in laboratory type condition, should be no problem, its when they are in season, in a dirty hutch, that they can get ill/die
  18. i have a couple of branches and a log out the back
  19. I can understand the not smoking if out shooting, as well as watching wind direction, carrying the smoke etc, but do tend to smoke while ferreting, although I will move about to make sure the wind is taking the smoke away from the burrows were ferreting, have never found this to produce less rabbits, always think that the rabbits are gonna have enough to think about with 3,4, or 5 ferrets running around the burrows after them to start worrying about the smell of smoke "up there" me and magwitch normally take double figures while ferreting
  20. think you mean upload rather than download, but check the size of ya pictures, they may be to big, if you have a camera or camera phone, put it onto the lowest resolution settings, this is normally ideal for computer pictures,

    Trolley

was thinking the same mate, out on sunday trying to lug a box of ferrets, me quickset basket, me bag of purse nets and locators stuff, and a shovel gets me aching, something along the lines of a fishing trolly, big wheels to handle the fields etc, may not be able to use it on every occassion, but if it was used sometimes it would be a help, plus on the way back with 20 rabbits or so
  22. Stubby Help me out....I know the resevour on that TDR is not very big but....a good 500-800 refills...how big is your bottle and how many shots do you get from a charge???? Assuming a minimum of 500 refills, and say 1 a week, that would mean 10 years before you need the bottle topping up. Put another way, you will never charge the bottle as it will only ever be half used at the 5 year test. On that basis and 800 refills, you talk in terms of 16 years between charges and 3 bottle tests before you drop the pressure and need a top up! Deker lol, look at the time I posted the
  23. our offices are in borehamwood, just down road from st albans, bunnies everywhere, are you sure it aint just that the places you go, aint got a rabbit problem, are the burrows fresh?, signs of droppings, sightings by owners, have you got regular permission?, making too much noise on your approach, so they were there, but are gone when you ferret? try visiting a week before you ferret, and just have a look around, see what burrows are being used, and which ones aint if others have ferreted that patch a week or two before you, rabbits wont move back into burrows that smell of ferrets,
  24. pcp, expensive to start with, although can always buy second hand, but cheap as chips, once you have all the kit, I have a S410 .22 TDR cost around £800 with the charging bottle etc, but the bottle only costs around a £5 to refil from a divers shop, and probably get a good 500-800 refils of the gun from that, its good having a multi shot when doing pest control, takes out rabbits with ease, very light too
  25. quote; What do other people think as to why rabbits hit purse nets set over holes at speed a ferret trying to eat their nutts I think those hitting net have a ferret on their tail, those just hoping out, know theres a fert about, but aint being chased, as for sides, could just be luck of the draw
