I have the TDR version, the reason I bought that one was simply, that at the time, I went everywhere by motorbike, and therefore the TDR in its neat little case that hung on your back, seemed the Ideal set up for me, however its now left fully assembled in a normal gun bag, as I tend to drive to my shoots, I dont know if the carbine differs in weight, so Id only suggest go by whatever is the cheapest out of the two

I'd still go with a wooden box nest box, but having the hammock as a fun thing, only reason being that as ferts tend to hide some bits of their daily meals, a box in my eyes is easier to keep clean, wipe out etc, a hammock from clothing would absorbe blood etc

fair do's mate,

why dont you try the dry ice method, looks much easier, and no pain to the animals, meaning no wobbly lines, like with a tattoo machine

there's been so many saying the collars slip off, how about making an extra hole in the collar, for those small jills, have found that sometimes the collars to be erratic, but feel this is due to people searching to quick, say after only 20 mins or so, if the ferret is moving, YOU DO get some erratic signals from the locator, if the ferret is moving, put the locator back in your pocket, the fert is doing its job, its only once the fert has not appeared for a much longer time, or all the other ferts have shown themselves the mk3 can be used best to find a stationary ferret, bottled up or o

what national pest control companies ?
stubby replied to a topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
"PREDATOR" Is the company I work for, based in hertfordshire, has contracts for most of london underground, work nights, doing the normal, rats/mice/cockroaches/flies etc in TRAFFIC HOURS 9pm-0000 and pidgeon work, proofing, shooting etc, in engineering hours 0000-0500 -
its got to be the mk3, if you think about it, it's got to be better than a mk2, some say the mk2 was only a prototype for the mk3 and should'ent have gone on sale, I dont think they have the pin point control on the back, which a lot of people think is only a volume control, but it ain't, it allows you to "home in" on the direction of the ferret, rather than just getting loads of lights and noise, surely you can order a mk3 on the net and have it delivered
-
are they packing up because of the batteries being dead?, cant understand any other reason, as they dont have moving parts to them, are you saying that pin point thingy actully does more than just turns the sound off? thats what makes most users, think they are useless, using it only to turn the sound down its used to fine tune the signal, which leads you to the fert, if the pinpoint aint used, people may as well chuck it in the bin

if you watch the hobs, you'll see they lick the back of the jills neck too, a bit like a dog licking its wounds, my jills have never gone manky
-
thats cut backs for ya

from looking at those pictures, I'd say get yourself a longnet, think you guys call it a roundabout net, still net 1 in every 5 holes within the netted area, get the dogs inside the net with you, and wait for the fun to start

well, I awoke to a wet, but not raining morning, having cancelled this particular trip out once, a little bit of rain wer'nt going to stop us, well by the time the missus was up, it had started to rain, richie had phoned to say, it was snowing at his gaff, but I assured him (fingers crossed) the day would be ok, had a new member to the forum (ferreter216) coming out with us for the day, so did'nt want to cancel on him either, well we saw all kinds of weather on-route, dry/rain/sleet/hail stones/snow, but we got there (harlow) and everything had stopped and it looked ok ish, was an enjoyable

I suppose for a lot of ferreters, it depends on the amount of rabbits they are catching, I gut in the field, then once home, loose the head and feet, it makes them easier to fit in a chest freezer, and they get froze for at least a week, if not two, but maybe others cant or havent the capacity to hold 50 rabbits, you say, you gave him fresh rabbit, what do you normally give him, or am I reading it wrong, I too have NEVER wormed a ferret in god knows how many years of keeping them, and as yet have never had a ferret die from worms, one from not being mated (infection to womb) and the rest hav

I'll go and take some pics for you, dont know if they will be any good, loaded with the nets in, and I aint taking them out (big tangles that way) or Ill take some tomorrow once the nets have been put out I have a home made one, made by a guy called rambo, he used a keep/landing net for the bag, Ive since changed it, and made a proper bag for it, holds a 100yd'er the other is a magnum, proper job, holds a 50yd'er, then Ive placed another net bag, on top of that net, and loaded a 25yd'er in, that way if I want the 50yd net first, its just a case of grabbing the 5 poles (marked with tape

were well in young down my perts still all well more for me next season so are we, I suppose its weather you have permission to ferret, in places that can be told its "the breeding season" as in gardens/public area's etc but to a farmer, a rabbit is a rabbit, no matter what size it is, giving them a few months off so to speak, to build their numbers back up, Is not In my eyes, good pest control, and can lead to "lost" permissions, as yet I havent had that many digs to young ones, have bolted a few, and had the ferts drag a few out, but I think they kill them and move on if anything

it is all down to the area you live in, cost us around £70 for a castrated hob, and £130 for two snipped hobs a snipped hob is "worth more to you" as it will bring your jills out of season, although some people have remarked that a castrated hob can do that too, its not proven, as a castrated hob, wont have the urge to "mate"
