  1. Viral Haemorrhagic disease.-a disease caused by virus and causing death by internal bleeding, I think in the lungs.
  2. Rabbit needs way more cooking than chicken - especially older rabbits. Long and slow is the way to go.
  3. That's the most interesting reply on the thread Artic. Seriously though, if the ban was lifted it would still only be legal for those with permission. There were no more "cowboys" before the ban than after and I'm sure most of us have done a little freelancing in the past.
  4. A couple of 20ft sections of longnet through the hedge at right angles. You may need to cut out a few twigs to get the nets through but you shouldn't damage the hedge of course.
  5. Have you got any videos with dogs running better than Red? A vid of hares says nothing about Reds abilities.
  6. OOPS! I've just repeated Wildrovers post. Sorry bout that.
  7. I bet you always hold your lamp in your right hand and have Bryn walking on your left. If you always heel your dog to the same side it gets sort of "stuck" there.
  8. 24 inches to the shoulder. This took her about an hour to dig when we were camping. As a worker, well she's only starting this winter so it's hard to say much yet. She's been ferreting a couple of times and her concentration is good. She's learning to listen and she's ready for bolts. Lamping is taking longer. She goes down the beam like a rocket then gets unsighted on the first turn. After a few outings like this I took her with my 12 year old collie greyhound and ran them as a pair and she got her first rabbit. She now needs to go on her own again.A bad sign is that when she loses a rabbi
  9. This is my 15 yr old sons dog.Airdale by quarter wheaton three quarter greyhound.
  10. hhmmm i had a problem loading images, when you reply to post it will say browse, click that to get ur images up, when you see the pic you want just click it once but dont double click, then once it uploads then click on where it says attatch this file underneath and it should come up auto matically yep done that mate it just keeps saying file too large? been and cropped it aswell but still not happining. cheers You need to resize the picture.1024 by 1024 pixels works on most forums. I use my fuji finepix program that came with my camera but as Stag says you can use image shack. Y
  11. Great report Artic, really enjoyed it. Your deerhound cross looks a handy size. What is he to the shoulder and what breeding?
  12. If they eat lots of cowshit their poo goes green. If they eat rat poison their poo comes out blue or green. Otherwise I've never heard of it.
  13. Some good advice here. I'd get another pup but I'd still be looking for the stolen bitch. You put a lot of time into her and I'd bet if/when you do get her back you'll be pleased to see her. Best of luck with whatever you do.
  14. no its cheap crap wont ever feed it to my lurchers again Hi Cornish, I'm just wondering what problem you had with the Redmills?
  15. This is certainly a great thread Mal.It's restoring my faith in the lurcher scene. (I agree with your opinion by the way).
  16. I have a first cross collie greyhound. He's 12 years old and I had him out lamping last night. He'd six runs, catching three of them.He doesn't yap and returns when the lamp goes off. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/167810-pictures-of-first-cross-collie-greyhound-no-beardies/page__p__1693481__fromsearch__1#entry1693481 The link shows him when he was younger. The photo here shows him in his bed this morning. He has a bit of arthritis from an old injury in one wrist so he's limping a bit this morning but he still loves going out and never limps 'til he gets home.
  17. Just when you've reared her and she's started working. Here's hoping you manage to get her back.
  18. It stands for "Biologically appropriate raw food" and I think it tries to copy what a wild wolf would eat. It's based on raw meat and bone (frozen for a few weeks first to kill worms). Some pureed vegetables are added to mimic gut contents. It sounds like a perfect diet but I must confess I'm too lazy to feed it and too mean to buy an extra freezer. My dogs have to make do with Redmills Racer with occasional bits of meat, fish or bones and some table scraps.
  19. From here in Ireland I had to join the forum and log in to view any threads. I don't understand how guests get on in the first place.
  20. £ seems OK. It would cost the same or more here. When your dog needs small things doing try going to different vets each time. In my experience some vets charge less if they think you're not very well off. If you find one and they seem to know dog injuries well, stick with them.
  21. I don't agree with Whin about this. In the early days of the "Shooting News" there were far more articles for the dog and ferret crowd. "Pesters Pen", "Lloyd on lurchers" ,"The Warrener","Dargi" etc. and of course Brian Plummer had a few articles in there. Whether or not you agreed with peoples opinions it was always interesting to hear them. One of my favourites of all time was Phil Lloyds discussion with "PC Alec Brown" about travellers. Anyone remember that? I don't buy it these days as there're only ever two or at most three articles I'd even read and Penny's are usually the only good on
  22. My tip is buy at least two and put cords on them to hang round your neck. Acme silent whistles don't come cheap. Oh No, they come expensive . Oh and when your out with one round your neck don't fall while climbing through a hedge or you might hang yourself.
  23. But they aren't INFRARED filters. The normal red filter emits visible red light. An infrared filter emits INVISIBLE light as mentioned above. It also cots a lot more money than a red filter.
