  1. is there any videos of him running online? what was he like? cheers
  2. According to Caspers owner, he is saluki saturated on the sire's side but not full bred, and on the dams side is mainly deerhound/collie/grey X line bred lurcher. Hope this helps. PS, I have a pup out of him myself. Taken about 5 weeks ago at 6 months. Cheers, D. is this casper still alive? i was told that the one thats the grandsire to my pup died 2 year ago. Thats a fine looking animal you've got there credit to the breeder Jake
  3. i think its the one above, was told he was £500 pound a line, coursing lads must have a bob or two haha
  4. Cheers that's of some help, just got a pup 4 and a half month old and his grand sire is Casper. His sire was sire was casper put back to a coursing grey and not sure of the dams breeding saluki wise but im told its mother was from scotland and was/is good coursing bitch put back to a grew. Should turn out well i hope. One things for sure i think he'll be a decent as he's 20tts at the minute. anyone want to hazard a guess at what size he'll end up?
  5. What percentage greyhound was he? or was he pure saluki?
  6. Thanks for the positive comments, she was sold yesterday and i couldnt of found a better home for her! chuffed
  7. Cumbria, and i'll try and get some more pictures up just having trouble with this computer.
  8. Going to have to sell my bitch because of family issues , She's 12 month in the middle of March and 23 1/2 tts. She's been brought up on a farm so is broken to livestock and good with other dogs. Done quite a bit of ferreting and ferreting wise she is 100 %, this is what she was bred to do! Doesnt touch the ferrets at all and holds the rabbits in the net until you reach her. Constantly learning all the time, ears going like satelite dishes hearing for thumping meaning most of the time she is in the right place at the right time for bolters. She's been lamping half a dozen times and is coming
  9. I know someone with a 50/50 collie/grey 23inch that could do it (preban)
  10. i'll start now then, thanks alot an i'll let you know how i get on
  11. Thanks for taking the time to reply, it all seems good then as i have plently of suitable places for my gun cabinet to be mounted and also have a safe to hold ammuntion in. I'm in Cumbria, so do you think they will be a bit more hesitant with all the Derek bird carry on? As for mentoring i know an experienced shooting man but what does it involve exactly? thanks jake
  12. I've recently turned 18 and am seriously considering applying for my FAC and SGC. I've got quite alot of permission about 1000 acres to go at, however alot of rabbits are quite lamp shy so getting close with the dog or airgun is becoming difficult. i've figured i would have a bigger game bag at the end of the night with a .177 or .22 rimfire. However with my age being young what are my chances of being granted a FAC? Also i live on a farm i've heard because of this i've got more of a chance? Any help would be much appreciated and suggestions for a first rifle for mostly rabbit control. Thanks
  13. These were taken about a month ago she'll be nine month now and 23 and a half tts
  14. surely there will be a time when the highest amount of rabbits will be out though, surely this time would be the best time to go out. i cant imagine a rabbit coming out of its burrow at 4 and staying out of its burrow till just before dawn so i dont think its that stupid a question
  15. thats one form of hunting that seems popular on here
  16. wait for what? and what time do u tend to go out roxy?
  17. Just wondering what time everyone goes lamping at, whne do u find there are more bunnies out?
  18. deerhound/grey has been used for hares for along time i believe, and i've heard they take fox easily
  19. i've got one atm, its okay on small fields for rabbits but a few times they have managed to run out of range of the lamp and my dog is running blind. imo they are cheap for a reason and also i had to solder the wiring again myself twice.
  20. They look like nice healthy pups, what are you planning to work them on in the future?
  21. Well now i've learned a litle more about coursing on the fens! a coursing guy i know has told me last week that the dogs are being bred back to the faster shorter course rather than the long type of course now, is this true?
  22. Just wondering but why do alot of people like really long courses? Didn't people use beagles for a course where the object was to tire the hare so much they were able to catch it. Surely a longdog/lurcher should be up and at them? no offence intended just curious
  23. The boxers we keep are not "pug faced" more the american type like above, the bitch we have can catch on the lamp im not saying its a good lamping dog lacks some speed compared with a lamping dog but is capable of a few. Our dogs get heart scored if they have a crap heart score they dont get bred from so maybe it worth seeing if you can get your bitch heart scored but i would of thought crossing out to a greythound would improve this anyway. They are quick to learn and imo my boxer dogs learn faster than the collie lurcher i have now and are pretty much fearless compared. atb jake
  24. My collie/grey is 22 and half tts at about the same age, but i think the different crosses grow at different rates. collie's in general tend to mature fast so i think she'll grow another inch maybe two max. i would think bull crosses would take longer to mature though
