  1. Aye thanks mate, I’m sure this is walnut just seems a lot lighter than the walnut sporter, don’t much look like a walnut stock, i oiled it maybe I did a shit job ?
  2. My old bitch a few years back, farm bred, was a decent ferreting bitch
  3. Just depends how you are wanting to catch rabbits, if a netting/marking dog most breeds will do the job given chance, i have a young collie now which is coming on great, steady and great marker and still just a baby. Runner types i like a whippet or grew type cross, probably 3/4 runner so 3/4 whippet or grew and 1/4 beddy or same but 1/4 collie, i like the idea of a 1/8 beddy 1/8 collie x as well. I prefer a smaller runner but just a personal opinion.
  4. Did the kt stock come in beech as well, i bought a new stock second hand and it is very light, im sure it is walnut but not as heavy and not as dark, i find the thumbhole much more comfortable to shoot, will be parting with the mint condition sporter stock at some point. Thank you.
  5. I have a Skoda Octavia scout 4x4, great motor, it needs new tyres soon, any recommendations for something more grippy for wet fields etc, dont want anything that will make road driving terrible just something in between.
  6. Looking great Jimmy, you are doing a fantastic job?
  7. Put a couple of the pipe traps in a barley field yesterday, normally I would just use a taplpex in crumbly soft soil. I am working on trying to find the best length to make these so I opted to try them. Was a bit harder to set with having to plug the ends a little, I just used a bit of sod. Anyway got them in and had them today, caught nicely as well, there is a lot of power in these springs.
  8. If I was you I would set them round 30 mm that way the spring can be wired in in 2 positions on each side and the curve in the spring will even out a bit on tension on the wooden pipe, just my personal opinion, let me know what you think and I can get these finished. There is some power in these springs ?
  9. I let the spring go 30mm past centre before I knock over, made a little jig for that puts right curve in as well
  10. Horses for courses, I have used them in deeper runs but mainly I would use a duffus or putange. These pipe traps are good on spooky moles, well worth carrying a couple.
  11. Thanks Phil but im no brain box, im thick as shit, just practical.
  12. I put ends on like that to sit tight in the aluminium
  13. a couple of other things i use, template to cut round with knife, pop sod out with scrappers and putange setting tool.
  14. Yes mate make the full trap, I found that wiring a bit of Alkathene pipe in middle of spring makes it much more powerful. I also make the mumble stick out of plastic and split the setting cord into 2 bits with a knot on either that way you set it with a knot either side of the mumble stick so it is easier to set as it is delivering pressure on either side of mumble stick, it also goes off easier. Also I drill the hole through then open the inside out a little bigger diameter, the mumble stick goes through the bigger hole easy the backs up on the smaller hole, much easier to set.
  15. I think there will be miss caught moles in any kind of traps
  16. It is some waxed twine I think as given, don’t know we’re it was from.
