  1. Decker, look on varmint al website under .17 hmr, I think it is on there when you scroll down. If not I have it somewhere.
  2. Let's hope so, I'm out with the ferrets tomorrow on a welcome break from work, and then got the beaters shoot and sing song in the evening on Saturday!
  3. Nice one matey, all the best, shoot straight and dont miss a chance!! The principles are all the same......... the calculations are are slightly different. No dramas. ATB. Remember the 4 principles if you go into one of the taliban houses...... Shoes off.. Socks off.. Sawn Off... Safety Off..! Having said that, just chuck a frag..

  6. Amusing as it is, let's get it locked!
  7. I think you are spot on there Brimmer, and shows a great deal of knowledge on ferrets. The only exception I have is were the ferrets are still in their first year, and I just continue with the same feeding regime every day. Whether this is right or wrong I dont know, but I work on the premise that they are still growing. It must also depend on the natural hunting instinct, and the will to hunt, of each individual ferret. Any ferret can be judged on whether its carrying weight or not by most folks out there, carrying a little timber will not stop them at all, carrying a good bit
  8. I know where he is coming from. I bought my first .22 BRNO in 1981 with a box of bullets and a sling. Within no time I was buying bullets in bulk, and as soon as I could, upgrading my scope. I know it was only a .22, but it was my rifle and I wanted the best. Things escalate from there...... I went down the smartening and re oiling the stock, even though it was a working rifle carried with me all the time when feeding up, or mending the pens. It shot straight, and did the job......but I still spent money on it. I still have the same passion about things now, and will spend money, if I wish

  10. You're going to have a few feasts there! Well done.
  11. Your funny......but still missing the point!! PS. Your spelling isnt any better when than when you were somebody else!!!
  12. All the time, lol. Not just for shooting but fishing and photography, and ferretting and................. I am suprised that my wife is not suprised, how many things were on Special Offer !!!
  13. Thats great and as most people say, know your limitations, with your rifle, ammo and personnal skill level in all conditions. I was interested though on what factual ballistics he was basing the 80m on. Not to have a dig, but to learn from others knowledge. Unfortunatley though, some people do quote figures, with no ballistic backing other than their point of view. Nobody, is saying that there are not better rifles, in certain circumstances.
  14. I was tired! I was not thinking straight!, I'd had a drink...............doh
  15. Excellent, love the one of the mutt jumping on the beach, and the reflection of it. Where is the small harbour?
  16. Does 'controlled' mean slower?I reckon we need those lighter bullets; its hard to cope with the rainbow trajectory of the 17 grain stuff Controlled should mean that the bullet mushrooms uniformidly, slowing down and dumping its energy. I dont think the trajectory of the 17gr, is that bad at all, and lets face it if you can whack stuff at 200 with an hmr, then the centre fire seems like a piece of cake, out to greater distances, with less calculation and thought being required.
  17. Its a tounge in cheek thread if you see how it started. It was aimed at one new member!!
  18. According to a recent BASC magazine, fox falls under the LEGAL definition of vermin. It would therefore be unlikely any prosecution would succeed. The other thing to consider is that a firearm certificate doesn't stipulate that the fox, CANNOT be shot with a hmr, or .22. No it doesn't but it also doesn't say you can't shoot wild boar with it either, yes I know this is an exaggeration but I don't think that could be used as a defence, I was told clearly by my FAO SY Police do not allow the use of rimmy on fox... Just shows how there is a lack of standardisation, .222 and up for Roe
  19. The other thing to consider is that everybody has a right to protect their property. (livestock/gamebirds) So again if a .22 is the only gun immediately available, and as already hinted at somewhere else, a brick could be legally used if necessary, I cannot envisage any feo, being anything other than "a reasonable man/woman).
