  1. Sure nicepix will let you know his putange secrets (well, the printable ones anyway)
  2. Very true Nicepix - you just never know. I have been catching moles locally in a garden approx 20m x 20m . The garden backs onto pasture, with no obvious mole hills There are 3 areas, so told the owners, thought there would be 3 moles. Caught mole number 9 yesterday
  3. When the phone starts ringing for a wasp nest Have not yet seen any queen wasps flying about so far this year, seen a couple of bumble bees each day over last few days
  4. Good Question 4110 Are you reducing mole numbers or completing a job to rid of all moles in an area (for a while at least?) I ask because, if I am trying to clear the whole area, then will put in extra traps, knowing that probably only 1 or 2 of the traps will get the result. May have 4-6 traps out close by on different runs If I am reducing numbers, say on a farm, then will use less traps per area, so that more area is covered on each visit. Certainly 2 traps for each mole area For me time/ cost traveling to the job is the expensive bit of my work, so popping in a couple of extr
  5. Agree, they do not look very wide, not wide enough for old moley, but they do catch, and catch well.
  6. They are what they are - cheap, hard on the thumbs to set, but have been catching with them. Do like the flat base when set, They may last, they may not only time will tell, my guess is not as long as a flatpack trap, but then there half price
  7. Google flat pack for half barrel mole traps, ratbait free postage over £75 so would qualify for 10 talpex
  8. And where is the JD Book of trapping, surely be out soon
  9. Out of interest, were they all caught in the same general location
  10. Very rare, although there are some who have caught more than one, I have had a gingery coloured one and that`s it. Read somewhere that catching a white mole = death soon after
  11. I have 5 Kania`s they are bloody expensive, but do the job + humanely. But twice I have had the traps at ground level with the approved safety cage, & both secured to a plank of wood, only for a hedgehog to get through the small square opening, turn right angle and walk into the trap. I now place the traps above ground on a couple of bricks to help prevent this happening again
  12. I got some cheapie traps when I first started out. They worked OK at first, but the wires soon stretched and corroded making them increasingly harder to set and activate. After a few months there was so much play in the trigger loops I abandoned them. The same will probably happen to these, but since I needed extra traps to fulfil all the farms that suddenly wanted mole control, it was worth buying these and often find it can take "Flatpack" 2-3 weeks to deliver depending how busy they are at time of order.
  13. Have caught some moles with the £2.99 traps, apart from really hard to set, have worked well.
  14. They are indeed the Procter Pest Stop half barrels. They are very hard to set, kills your thumbs and will need a hefty push from the mole to trigger it. On a plus side the wire is flat when set at the base, so fits snugly on the ground.
  15. Did not think they will be very good, but since they can deliver on Monday, have given it ago. If they are really awful and need to recycled, then have not lost too much. Glad the talpex should be ok Cheers
  16. Will let you know the outcome. Have ordered 20 talpex and 15 of the £2.99 barrels.
  17. I have seen on here that others have mentioned/used ratbait.co.uk? Normally I use flatpack for all my mole trapping needs, but flat pack out of stock on their talpex type claw traps. Have you used Ratbait for either the talpex or half barrel traps? Half barrels are only £2.99 inc vat so assume cheap china imports? Are they any good?
  18. Have you had any issues regarding the nozzle getting blocked when pushing it into the nest? and if so is it easy to rectify or do you need a petrol garage tyre air hose to clear. I seem to remember that you do!!
  19. Maybe I have been lucky or its the area I work in, but have never had an issue with traps being nicked. The only thieves (so far) have been either badgers or fox who remove the odd trap but leave my bright orange tent peg marker behind
