  1. Now hope thats got your attention! As a pest controller working South Shropshire/North Herefordshire/Mid Wales Powys border I often get asked about rabbits, sometimes ferrets would help Do not keep ferrets, so looking for someone who may live around South Shropshire, willing to help out with ferreting jobs, and be paid, not saying there will be vast somes of money involved, but it all helps Kind Regards Chris
  2. Thought I would add my bit to this thread. I too work full time and have plenty of time off and am a part time pest controller. Works well for me as sole trader, but to really make it you WILL need a partner who you trust to share the work and money, so if your working and cant do that urgent rat job, then chances are your mate could. Saying that, i dont use anyone else, and for most people thay will wait for me, if they cant then too bad. Join the NPTA National Pest Technicians Association, go to their Pest Tech 14 day (details on their webpage - NPTA) they offer loads of courses to help
  3. True, but these little jobs are no big earners
  4. Thanks, have found him on members page, have sent pm
  5. Hi, I am considering using long nets as a means to rid a garden of a few rabbits? Looking for an inexpensive dvd to show me where to start and what length/type of net needed. Kind Regards Chris
  6. Hi, Need to remove a few rabbits that are in a large domestic garden, garden seems well proofed but lots of large boundary shrubs prevent full perimeter inspection for holes. Thought about part long netting and flushing rabbits with a terrier?? or leaving net up for a hour and see what happens? any thoughts Or rabbit traps/cages:- Have you any experience of this? Success? Best methods? Home made or shop traps? Best trap bait? Regards Chris
  7. Word of mouth is a slower but much more reliable source of revenue. Do a good job, get recommended, then get other work as a result. Ads on notice boards can help (a little) and get your name about. Pay for websites, other than Yell, not for me. Build up slowly, I think is key
  8. Thank you for your reply. Who is Nod and where do I find him/her? I guess homemade traps will a lot more economical then factory made. Regards Chris
  9. Has anybody tried tanning mole skins? Have often thought it would be nice to have a waistcost made entirely from my moles. Have experimented, skinned and tanned with a home tanning kit purchased. Find it difficult to really clean the skins of all fleshy bits. And only end up with a very small useable square of pelt. Any thoughts/help?? Chris
  10. Of course I give advice on proofing the garden against rabbit, after all if you can keep them out then battle won. . But there are those really large gardens with lots of boundary shrubs, that would make proofing costly and house owners unwilling to cough up. I know ferrets would be the answer sometimes, but there are those occasions when a few rabbits got in, cant get out and need catching. Never had much luck with cage traps, any suggestions on best way to place etc??
  11. Hi, Looking for advice/help? As a pest controller, I am often asked about rabbits in domestic gardens/paddocks. Currently so I cant help, but there must be away? Could I long net these areas without ferrets (dont keep them), either drop the net at night and use a terrier to spook the rabbits or simply leave out for an hour or two at dusk Have spoken to a chap today who advertises long nets for these situations, John Orr, does anybody know him or how good his nets are. Any help gratefully received Chris
  12. Combro will be back in stock in 2 weeks, I know because I am on the list
  13. If you have rats then do as others have said remove the food source, if its not you then somewhere in the neighbourhood has got rabbits (in hutches) chickens guinea pigs, over feeding the birds etc etc. over feeding is the main cause that I as a pest controller come across. Rats need what we need - food, warmth/shelter, water. take one away then your cured
  14. Hi, I have a S400 Classic Air Arms .22 and had to take apart to change a seal or two as had a leak issue. Never done this before and could not find any info to download to help with the process, and of course unscrewed the brass valve on the spring that allows the air through to fire the pellet. I did not note where the thread was, and so want to find our roughly where I should have this to stay within the 12 ft/lbs. I was going to get a combro 625 to accurately asses this but they are out of stock for 2 weeks. Any help/advice greatly received Chris
